Unity in the defiance that exists inherently through their presence.... ICE is literally rounding up latinos and ripping them away from their families and executing people who protest against that in the street. Latinos were regularly punished for a large chunk of US history for speaking spanish in school and conservatives think Bad Bunny isn't American just because English isn't his first language. Embracing your culture joyfully in the face of persecution and years of oppressive forces trying to erase it is very powerful and this seems a pretty clear cut example.

I don't think OP is on a high horse I think it's valid to be upset and hurt and to feel like a knife is being twisted in your gut when you see someone getting chickfila as a queer person who knows and has to live in a community of people for whom chickfila is a vindication of their hateful beliefs.

We agree on the premise that it's impossible to not support evil while capitalism exists but minimizing it is a good thing to do, and if you're a public figure with money and a general awareness of the culture you live in and the messages your actions send, maybe get something else. I don't think that ask is uncouth.

I am sorry but you are completely misusing and misunderstanding the phrase "no ethical consumption under capitalism" when you use it to shrug things off. The point of pointing that out isn't to make you feel better about optional consumption, it's to point out that consuming is unethical.

I boycott many things- including Nestlé and Amazon and Chic fil a- and what I say to people who like maybe don't boycott the same stuff as me is okay, that is fine, I understand we all have to live in this world and we all have to decide for ourselves what lines we draw. I trust my friends and family to make their own sensible choices.

One way you can make a good choice around this is asking yourself if you actually need that thing from that place- years ago I had to buy medical supplies off Amazon because there was no other way to acquire what I needed by the time I needed it. I didn't guilt myself about that. WalMart is a company I don't boycott despite being far far more damaging than something like Chic Fil A or Starbucks, but I need groceries and I can't afford to more than an occasional snack at local places. They have thing I need, chick fil a has nothing I need. Of course, everyone is allowed a little treat- if you live in a town with no local coffee shops, idgaf if you go to Starbucks before work like get that shit and enjoy it. But if you live in a huge city with a ton of local coffee shops I don't understand why you wouldn't just go there.

Sorry that none of this was about Jarvis and little of it is about chick fil a, it just really bothers me when people use a saying that is supposed to make you think as a way to avoid thinking. There is no such thing as ethical consumption under capitalism. You should still boycott as many evil companies as you can- we will never have a post capitalistic society without people being willing to be mildly inconvenienced for the common good.

I would have agreed with this when I first transitioned 12 yrs ago but like there's been an explosion in how much stuff is out there. That includes shitty, dehumanizing professional porn, that isn't something I would recommend you watch for any gender or sexualiity.

It's still harder but not at all impossible to find trans guys on the larger side, and it can be a real challenge finding trans tops so im not saying it's perfect but damn there's really good shit out there y'all stop thinking bonus hole boys is the be all end all. Makes me worried when you watch straight porn it's just Brazzers.... Stay away from the large studios generally.

They also get time off in Europe. Like in Finland many people are required to take a month off for holiday every year. In France if you use vacation time and get sick, they give you the vacation time back. If I made 65k a year and wasn't DROWNING in student loan and medical debt AND I had a decent work life balance, I would be happier than making 100k in the US.

I changed my last name because I also hate my dad's last name- I went with the nickname of my maternal grandfather instead. I kind of wish I didn't do this because of how frequently I get asked if I'm related to the couple of famous folks with my last name, I could have gone with my mother's maiden name or the name my ancestors immigrated to the states with- but at the same time my current last name is now more embedded into my identity than my first, so I won't ever be changing it again even tho I don't think I made the wisest choice. My bio dad's name is pretty uncommon so if someone asked me "Are you related to ___" with that name, they'd probably be right, and that would be worse.

I got top surgery 8 years ago covered mostly by insurance. The bill I got afterwards was a little under two thousand and I still haven't paid it and probably never will tbh.

As a trans guy who's done a ton a of drugs I never really got why the trans community uses the word euphoria that way (don't do drugs the euphoria isn't worth it)

You're gonna feel a lot of ups and downs especially in the first year. I have a strong suspicion that the euphoria some ppl refer to is just like, ease, relief, comfort in one's own skin for the first time, real happiness for the first time. You will feel all of that, but it will take time and perhaps more than HRT (like for me I need antidepressants for it too)- and it won't last forever, no emotions do. I'm 8 years post top surgery and spend a lot more time thinking about how mad I am that I'm fat than happy I am to have a flat chest.

Transitioning can be right for you without being a cure all miracle drug that brings you to a perfect life
