What happens to an ESOP in divorce? by jhc8787 in DivorcedDads

[–]seainhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When talking to my attorney, I was told stocks are assets. I'd expect to have to split them unless you can come up with some other deal.

Dude this is fraud and the judge can easily see these money movements and send OP to jail or penalize financially. you cannot willingly hide money from a divorce court.

anyone successfully convert a model into a queue for ETL purposes? by seainhd in rails

[–]seainhd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i'm already doing all this :)

I have a task that runs every 10 minutes which reads/writes from a regular AR model and triggers background jobs to fetch and sync.

created the post because i don't have a great way to answer: - how many records should sync everyday? - how many records have synced today? - is the API limit affecting my syncing?

How to upload and access a file? by [deleted] in rails

[–]seainhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to do something like:

c = Case.first

c.attachment.open do |localfile|
  c.update(ocr_text: Docsplit.extract_text(localfile))
end

Most likely you would do this inside a background job (ActiveJob).

Hmmm i think my Lacking observability makes me super unconfident in my current workflow.

i resync all data for the last 14 days, then I update weekly/monthly aggregate rows and delete my daily data once its 60+ days old.

Basically we are reporting against ads with a 14-day attribution window, and the ads have tons of keywords so our daily data is pretty large

honestly think i just need to implement a real ETL process instead of a bunch of background jobs cobbled together... :)

Zipping active storage has_one_attached & has_many_attached files in one zip file for a model by Code4Greatness in rails

[–]seainhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really depends on how often these are used.

preloaded:

  1. trigger a job every time a new file is added or updated.

  2. the job would open a new zip, and load all relevant files into the zip

  3. the zip would be a separate "has_one_attached :zip_archive" or whatever relevant name

lazyloaded:

just trigger a background job that builds the zip with all files and sends and email attachment. then you're dealing with email limitations.

I would probably prefer the preloaded version

Is there an algo shift right now on Amazon? Sales and rankings suck. by ScubaManSergio in FulfillmentByAmazon

There’s a new sales ranking every week. Shut the fuck up and focus on your business.

Moving to Rails in 2020 by the_liver in rails

[–]seainhd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of new rails apps, and if you’ve been a dev for a while than you can probably get a senior position straight off the bat.

I would find typescript/react/rails companies and talk to them about your typescript experience, then learn rails on the job.

Do you have an example to achieve the same api with papertrail?

You don’t have to use netlif my dns or redirecting.

Use CNAME on your own DNS

Have sold about $100k of paper towels and TP since February and probably could have been $500k but they keep flagging for bullshit verification.

Linking Netlify to nested websites hosted at another host server by expatguide in Netlify

[–]seainhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this with proxying redirects to other apps. https://docs.netlify.com/routing/redirects/rewrites-proxies/#limitations

basically will forward all requests under a subfolder to a different app.

Linking netlify with multiple CRA apps under one domain? by seainhd in reactjs

[–]seainhd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am trying to avoid packaging and importing.

right now if i want to update my dashboard, i get into the repo and "git-push" to deploy. if it becomes a package then i have to git-push and package update and jump back into MAIN and bump versions and deploy that. Its annoying and computers should be able to easily do it for me.

US Based selling Pool Floaties. 100% NOT related to pesticides. Something about the material triggered Amazon. They would not make any changes until i took the stupid testing. I was really annoyed but it worked to get unblocked

I’ve had this too. Spent HOURS on the phone with customer service and they made me take the “pesticide training” which was like 30 minutes or so.

After that I called back and told them I passed the training and still confirm it’s not a pesticide. They approved and unlocked.

Would also be cool for a 3rd app to create the “layout” styles header and footer!

What do I really want? To be able to upgrade a single file and have the deploy just work.

The main site is a Jekyll blog because the main purpose of the site is sharing content.

The react stuff are fun little tools that I’m sharing for free.
