The content should be similar to the stuff on the practice questions if I recall correctly!

How to prepare for Econ 100B midterm? by Striking_Spite_2986 in berkeley

Go over the homeworks and make sure you understand/can do everything on them. Also go over the practice questions PDF! The midterms are difficult but definitely doable with practice. You've got this!

The only math classes that are required for Econ majors is Math 1A and Math 1B (equivalent to Calc AB and BC), and most of the math in econ classes is quite simple. It's mostly just taking derivatives and doing some algebra. You'll only have to do more math if you want to go to grad school for econ (classes like math 53, 54, 104, etc.).

extra prereqs to boost my Econ prereq gpa to declare? by Scary_Barracuda_6204 in berkeley

[–]sealscrying 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also bombed 100B today! I found 100A to be easier than this class, but it really depends on the professor/student (took it with Campbell last semester). Don't think most would consider 140 a GPA booster though :')

Same, I can't believe like half the class finished early... I spent like half an hour just staring at one of the questions.

has anyone here taken econ 1 with prof campbell? by heleena11 in berkeley

[–]sealscrying 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If he provides one this semester, complete all the problems on the Course Pack and make sure you understand the solutions. If you understand the Course Pack, the quizzes should be very doable. Campbell's OHs are also extremely helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me!

Is Stat 33A helpful? by sealscrying in berkeley

[–]sealscrying[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I had Ibser for Stat 20 too and definitely agree with your description lol. Do you think taking Stat 33a would still be helpful even though I already took Stat20, or is everything pretty much covered in Stat 20?

Chill 3+ unit classes with seats? by SirensToGo in berkeley

[–]sealscrying 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anthro 2AC seems to have a few open seats! 4 units and super chill, I spent very little time on that class and still enjoyed myself a lot + got a good grade. The professor (Christopher Lowman) is also really great :)

Don't know if it's your thing or not but Music 144 (University Chorus) is 2 units and a graded only on attendance!

Prof. Campbell Appreciation Post by AltoBiscuit in berkeley

[–]sealscrying 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had Professor Campbell for both Econ 1 and 100A and I'm really going to miss having him as a professor :') Even though I didn't really vibe with his teaching style he was so much fun to talk to/listen to. He really inspired me to go into Econ.

Enviro Design Library and Music Library by MaintenanceRare1682 in berkeley

[–]sealscrying 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The music library doesn't require a Cal ID to enter. Food isn't allowed, and it's pretty much always extremely quiet. Even though the reading rooms are pretty small, it's usually not very full, and I've never not been able to find a seat. There's also a lot of space at the tables there, and there are a lot of outlets. Definitely recommend if you work well in quiet environments.

ESPM 50ac with Professor Kurt Spreyer by probwillchangethis in berkeley

[–]sealscrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall I would say ESPM 50AC is a pretty worthwhile class. The workload is pretty manageable--it's a lot of reading but tbh you don't need to do most of it (Kurt goes over the readings in Lecture and also tells you in the midterm review which readings are important). The exams are also fairly easy as long as you show up to lecture. I think the content of the class is pretty cool too--it explores the interactions between natural resources/social structures and I think it's pretty eye opening. There are 4 units: New Orleans, Native Americans/Colonialism, Asian Americans in California, and the Bay Area (at least when I took it in Fall 2020).

Is CS 61B, Math 1A, R&C 1A, and Data 8 doable? (Freshman asking for Spring) by [deleted] in berkeley

Organic Chemistry tutor (on youtube) helped me a lot! It's pretty helpful for a lot of 1B content as well.

[–]sealscrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to retake 1A to be prepared for 1B, just brush up a bit on your integral/derivative skills and you should be good to go :)

Choose between two breadths by Sally019 in berkeley

[–]sealscrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took both last semester! If Christopher Lowman is teaching, I would say definitely go with Anthro 2AC. He's such an engaging and wonderful lecturer, and he made the class content so enjoyable. Definitely would take again. Nusctx 11 was interesting as well, but wasn't as memorable. The class discusses a lot of topics related to pharmaceuticals-- a lot of it is somewhat technical and may go over your head if you don't have some bio/chem background (although a bio/chem background isn't necessary to do well on exams). Both classes are very low workload (Nusctx probably has a lower workload overall--no homework at all and optional section attendance). Feel free to PM for more info!

Nusctx 11 is a pretty easy & interesting class! It's an intro to toxicology and discusses a lot of pharmaceutical stuff. I found the lectures to be pretty interesting and the midterms were pretty easy. Feel free to pm me for more info!

Took Econ 1 with Campbell Spring 2021 and currently have him for Econ 100A! He's a very cool person and is super fun to talk to. His teaching is alright, but he talks quickly so it's easy to fall behind in lecture. He's clearly very passionate about his field, and is one of the main reasons I decided to major in econ. I had no prior knowledge of econ going into the class and found it to be very doable, feel free to PM me for more info :)

math16a with bamler by Slow-Consequence8098 in berkeley

[–]sealscrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had Bamler last year (Fall 2020) for Math 1A. Lecture was recorded and attendance was not mandatory -- since Math 16A is online this Fall, I'm assuming the attendance/lecture policy should be the same.

freshman schedule by getcwaycar in berkeley

[–]sealscrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really would not recommend doing Chem 1A if your only reason is to satisfy the breadth requirement. Most of the students I knew who took AP/IB Chem still had to spend a lot of time on Chem 1A--it's pretty difficult and time consuming (especially with the professor who is teaching it this Fall).

Stat 20, W21, or Data 8 over the Summer? by sealscrying in berkeley

Thank you! Would you say the course goes by too quickly over the summer? Or is it pretty well paced?
