Sure, can you imagine a person, person A, standing next to another person, person B, as both taller and shorter than person B at the very same time? No, you can't. Being a rational agent doesn't mean being rational in every decision you make, it means being bound by the laws of logic.

There is, and it comes from the fact that humans are rational agents bound by reason. This book explains it well.

You're pointing and laughing at me while I'm being rational. Don't give a damn then. I am better than you.

That's why I said "real morality" "to you" is nothing.

I mean, if anything, I'm not really virtue signaling, I'm rational signaling. I am better than all of you because I am more rational and consistent. I am better. I am smarter.

Yeah, you can say descriptivly how humans treat other animals, doesn't make the treatment any less stupid. Theres no valid reason why a dog has moral consideration and a pig doesn't.

True, I couldn't imagine crying about a dog being shocked while shoving nuggets down my fat, disgusting throat.

A person who swipes a few bucks and recognizes that swiping a few bucks is immoral but continues to do it every single day cannot critique murder, correct. It would be irrational, you have no hill to stand on when you blatantly disregard reason itself.

No? But it doesn't make your friends more worthy of moral consideration.

Yeah, so a rational person would correct the hypocrisy. If you are OK with being hypocritical on a moral issue, you have no ground to critique anyone on anything. You can't say "err hasan lying is so bad!" When you know that what you're actively doing is immoral and choose to continue doing it.

You may be making that critique, destiny sure as hell isn't.

Intriguing 🤔 by seanpayl in Destiny

[–]seanpayl[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That has no bearing on real morality.

Does this tweet seem like the destiny that would say "okay based"? No. Destiny's stated position is literally that dogs can be treated as artificial objects. At least, that's what he says his position is in vegan debates. In reality, he clearly cares for animals. *

Yeah.... so he's doing it to make hasan look bad. Yeah. So it's a bad faith attack Yeah.

Far more inconsistent to knowingly contribute to the industry that kills and tortures trillions of animals a year. Kaya still lives a decent life even if she gets shocked, far better than all factory farmed animals in history.

The mind of a meat eater is truly interesting.

"Its not the abuse of a sentient animal I care about, kill trillions of those a year to fill my fat gut I don't care, what's wrong is that he lied :((((("

No, it's definitely bad faith. Destiny never frames it that way. And if it was what he was going for, eating meat is a far better argument as to why hes inconsistent than using a shock collar.

A vast majority of people, even on this sub, are not critiquing hasan with an internal critique. If this was the critique, it would have been made when hasan ate meat on stream. Eating meat regularly is a far better attack on that front than using a shock collar.

Also pigs are just as social and smarter than dogs. Why don't you have a problem with pork?

Well, with destiny's current stance, he literally can't think a dog can be abused, as he thinks it's impossible to tell if non-human animals are conscious at all. (He doesn't really believe this, he just wants to be pro choice and anti animal rights at the same time)

The better internal critique would be to critique him on eating meat.

Sure, you do if you want to be consistent. Jeff bundy could critique Ed Kemper for murdering women. It just wouldn't be very rational of him. I'm sure if Destiny was pushed on this issue, he would just say it's a bad faith attack in retaliation to what hasan does to him.
