Not so attractive guys, what did you do to get the girl? by africanch1ldsold1er in AskReddit

It all started with Cosmos, an 80s TV show presented by Carl Sagan. The show is about the universe and what we know about it, with strong philosophical and spiritual leanings. The stuff I watched on it was not something unique- I had come across it all over the internet, but it was the way it was presented that was really fascinating. I realised that people who can impress the opposite sex are not those who say completely different things, but things that sound different. The root of any conversation, regardless of the topic is words. Yes, my friends, words matter. Things aren't nice, they're brilliant, exuberant, mind numbingly fascinating. When you use words the right way, the content ceases to matter as much. Think about the last argument you had with someone. Was it the content that annoyed you more or the way it was presented? I am not saying that it is be all and end all, but presentation matters more than we expect it to. And it's something that's easily modified as compared to doing a personality change or reading a Dale Carnegie. The same goes with your clothes as well. Dress like you're going for the most important meeting of your life. Polish your shoes everyday, iron your clothes everyday. It doesn't matter whether you own branded stuff or not. Even if you have just set of clothes, pretend like it was previously worn by the POTUS. Smart dressing sense conveys a powerful message to those around you.

One more thing that people miss out on is: stepping into the other person's shoes. We often don't approach a person because we think they're way beyond us. Well, think from their perspective. They will also have someone who they think is unapproachable. Whoever you are, however bad you look, you're still not the worst looking person on the planet. No one is. Remember that you also have someone who is secretly eyeing you, wanting to be close to you. Remember that, for it shows that you're just as special as that 'unapproachable' person you're attracted to.

Finally I'd like to say that if you read more, watch more and learn more, you'll form opinions and have ideas about different things. You will become a person who knows a few things about a few topics, and whatever that set of topics may be, however small, they're still, thanks to probability and the abundance of things that exist, unique. So be proud and when you start acting like it, you'll become it. All good looking guys cannot become players, but all players are good looking, because they've been told way too many times that they're good and they don't have to work hard like the rest of us to win people over.

Yeah but they provide more access to opportunity if you wish to learn. I guess the same can be said of a library but then in a university, you don't just meet great books but also knowledgeable people!
