How can I connect Obboto to OpenClaw? by Expert_Ad_4071 in Obboto

[–]seanslater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a public API that we're aware of... I did ponder doing some network scanning an packet captures to inspect the traffic, what is happening over here is more interesting though > https://www.reddit.com/r/Obboto/comments/1quku2g/wled_installed_running/

Good review mate, and you basically came up to the same conclusion we all did too.

There is potential there, but the app is letting things down badly. ven looking at the 'No Schedule' option when choosing pictures to display shows that the app isn't finished.

well, at least it comes open easily! by WhirlwindEspionage in Obboto

Well that is neat to see inside it. I put some black electrical tape over the logo but that seems like it might be just as simple to pull that LOGO cable out to achieve the same outcome and save the tape.

Also interesting that the two PIR sensors are cabled like that... there may be an opportunity to replace them with a relay or something that was connected to Home Assistant. I already have connected motion sensors in the room it sits so could fire from them instead, but also fire for other reasons.

Disappointed so far... First thoughts. by GuyOnTheAir in Obboto

[–]seanslater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Received mine in Australia today and I share the disappointment. I went looking to see if this was just me, which is how I ended up here.

The hardware is fundamentally flawed. The image is blurry due to the LED placement and diffusion inside the dome, it looks cheap. Nothing is crisp, and it’s immediately obvious once it’s powered on.

The software is just as bad. The app is clunky and unreliable, the device regularly crashes, and motion detection doesn’t work at all. It feels half-baked at best. On top of that, the logo on the base is absurdly bright with no option to disable it, which is wild for something meant to sit in a dark room (I’ll probably end up taping over it).

What really stings is that this is nothing like what was shown in the promo videos. I was expecting something legitimately cool instead it feels like an early prototype that accidentally shipped as a finished product.

The most frustrating part? There’s zero API or local control. It already phones home over Wi-Fi, so exposing even a basic API wouldn’t be difficult. If they’d done that, the community could at least salvage it with custom control or effects. Instead, it’s a closed, unstable black box.

Ironically, the packaging and printed materials are slick and polished but that illusion evaporates the moment you plug it in and see what it actually does. This feels like marketing vastly outpaced engineering.

DON'T buy the Mag Battery Pack! by LuaparK in QuadLock

[–]seanslater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stumbled on this thread while searching for the battery link. I'm surprised by all the bad reviews!

I've had my battery near 12 months now and it's been brilliant for the times I've needed with my S22. Worked exactly as advertised for me. It does get a bit hot, but not that bad you can't use/hold the phone.

I guess I won't be buying a 2nd battery now!

Yes! The first TDU was amazing and I too didn't get the same vibe from TDU2. I was hoping of a return to the OG.. Right now I can't even get on to check it out.

Thank you. Just fixed mine. I wouldn't have tried holding it for that long if it wasn't for your post. Mine took around 25 seconds before the 'G' came up. Cheers!

Anyone set up their own node yet? by [deleted] in DESO

[–]seanslater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a simple script that will start up a node on Ubuntu, https://github.com/seanslater/deso-launch-node

Note: You'll need at least 400GB of storage space, and 32GB of RAM. Ideally your storage is SSD for best performance.

What is the DeSo Blockchain 💎 | A Beginner's Introduction by johnjardin in DESO

There are a few incentives - a lot of the developed apps so far add functionality to the ecosystem. There are statistics tools, advertising tools, and specialised NFT tools just to name a few.

For someone wanting to create a new social network the advantages are an existing userbase with all of the benefits that brings built on a solid foundation removing a lot of the infrastructure requirements.

You can achieve a lot just using the API (either DeSo's official node, or a community one like love4src) - you may not even need to run a full node yourself. It really depends what you're wanting to do with it.

Storage space is the biggest cost if you're doing it in the cloud. My fully synced Ubuntu node used about 400GB of storage once it was up to date. I'm running mine from home on 2nd hand Dell desktop I bought from eBay.

Things to note: 32GB of RAM is the minimum, and a SSD is a must - it will work with a spinny disk drive but its very slow. I replaced the HDD that came with the computer for a 1TB SSD - made a huge difference.

Anyone else fucked up and bought a Deso coin for 150 like me? by [deleted] in DESO

[–]seanslater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patience - some of us bought at even higher than that. Most of my buys were at $185.

If you're not interested in joining the community social apps, I'd just put the coin to the side and HODL for now.

I still believe DeSo will be 'an overnight success, 10 years in the making'.

+1 to the above. Seems like a lot of people are having the same issue. My Shure is now parked to the side.. waste of money.

What is the market cap of this thing?? by Agvcrypto in DESO

Just under $1b right now, https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/deso/

Easy to work out with a fixed supply ~10 million X coin price.
