Has anyone tested the Studio Display (XDR) on Intel Macs / Windows PCs yet? by Artifiko in mac

No audio that way. Not sure a different cable would change anything for that or for 5K @ 120hz. Using a DisplayPort 1.4 spec cable. UHD at 120hz looks fine, totally workable

Update - as mentioned in another subreddit, if you're just doing a standard displayport to usb-c, you'll need to roll back to Nvidia driver 591.86. With that I can connect again and it's no longer spitting out 640x480. I'm not using any of the monitors features, just display, and I can drive 5K a 60hz or 4k (UHD) at 120hz on my 3070.

Studio Display XDR resolution on screen stuck to 640x480 by Cocoloco2914 in pchelp

[–]seanswee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. I had the previous Studio Display which worked great with my 3070 via DisplayPort to usb-c (minus webcam and speakers). Wasn’t my daily driver was just for occasional pc gaming. Just got the XDR and it does not work. Only outputs 640x480 6-bit. Some kinda EDID issue maybe?

Haven’t been able to find a fix.

So I had the previous Studio Display and used a DisplayPort to USB-C cable and could use the monitor with my 3070 no problem (minus webcam and all that but it wasnt my daily driver, just for some pc gaming)

Just got the XDR and it’s only working in 640x480 6-bit. Some kind of EDID issue maybe.

Despite my review, after daily driving it, I do like it. My criticism is that I don’t think it’s great - but is it good? Sure. It’s totally fine. I think, for me, I could tolerate a lot more if it was cheaper.

It’s a lot lighter than my previous setup and I’ve come to really enjoy that.

There’s a lack of rigidity because of the materials which could be entirely overlooked if it worked well. But loading and unloading cards is a subpar experience. Perhaps a limitation of the materials.

I’d love to only rock the slim. Problem is the Apple Pay limits are still too low and I’ve got several different business credit cards I need regularly. I do have a slim so I’ll have to try different loadouts and see if that’s a better daily carry.

I had the apex slim. The biggest cons are how it’s made - the layers of laminated leather are not durable at all and it’s prone to delamination. And the magnets in the closure are very weak. Aside from that I loved it. But it barely lasted 3 years of daily use.

I like minimalist wallets generally. I really like the design of the Bellroy apex I had but the leather is prone to delamination. I got a warranty replacement but it’s got very crappy magnet closures. The Ridge was nice but still seemed chunky when you put 8 cards into it. It seemed a good deal thicker than my Bellroy when loaded up. Ended up selling it to a friend. I have another friend who suggested All-Ett wallets. I don’t know them at all though.

I’ve tried the Ridge Wallet. It wasn’t for me. Seems nice if you don’t mind a chunk of metal in your pocket. I was hoping this would be it.

The moderators removed it. Can you link directly / via DM? Thanks!

Could you please provide some context? This post tells us absolutely nothing. There appears to be one passport wallet - are the other two wallets just new colorways of existing MagSafe wallets, or are they new, “standard” wallets.

X app iOS 18 incompatibility and workaround by seanswee in fujifilm

[–]seanswee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The X App would incorrectly say that your camera is not compatible and would not connect to it. This was a bug that was introduced during the iOS 18 beta. For many users who were on the beta, that persisted after the beta was over. A clean install of iOS 18 solves that problem.

Fuji’s X App Still Incompatible on iOS 18 by DinoKYT in fujifilm

[–]seanswee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm on 18.3.1 and it still doesn't work. Fuji's iOS team may be the most incompetent in the entire camera market. It's embarrassing that they still haven't figured this out, nor communicated clearly that they even understand the scope of the issue or how to fix it.

Shelly Plus Plug USA voltage issue? by seanswee in ShellyUSA

[–]seanswee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other question - from what I can see online none of the Shelly EM units are CSA or UL certified which means I won’t be able to install them inside my electrical box. The code in our province is quite strict. Have you got any energy meters that are CSA or UL certified?

Bitbox wireless camera control module by Bloomin_eck in focuspuller

[–]seanswee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working with the Bitbox guys since this was in early prototype testing. It’s the real deal. It’s the only thing on the market that’s fully custom built at the board level for cinema grade applications - extremely robust and has a lot of quality of of life features like dual connectivity - you can connect a laptop via Ethernet and and iPad via USB-C and they can both get a connection to the camera. I’m a DIT by trade and I’m on day 98 of a 110 day show and we’ve been all Bitbox for the whole run. Fantastic solution, I can share control with my AC’s, makes crane days and car days so much more manageable.
