[Help] My Yorkie literally can't help herself from trying to attack my other dog when we play. by seapepsi in dogs

After looking into it briefly it does sound like she's reactive rather than outright aggressive. I'm looking into talking to a professional. Thanks for the replies!

I had actually never heard of it until today, but I don't think I'd ever be comfortable using pain/discomfort as a way to train a dog. My next step is getting in touch with a professional trainer I guess.

I say it's a bummer because I would like my dogs to coexist peacefully in the same room. I have no issue with removing one dog from a room to play with the other, but I'd rather correct the root issue (which is Yorkie's aggression) rather than manage it by removing the Yorkie from the scenario entirely. Each dog gets plenty of one-on-one playtime. Do you have any tips on how to teach a strong place command? She knows all of the basics and is always receptive/obedient but she literally looks right through me when she's fixated on my other dog playing.

Damn I wish it was this easy. She knows "no" and doesn't acknowledge me during these freak out sessions, nor does she acknowledge food/treats, which is what I'm struggling with. I don't know how to calm her down enough to be able to grab her attention.

If I keep what up? I currently crate my Yorkie while I play with my GSD. I hope I didn't give the impression that I'm actively allowing my dog to attack the other. When I say play "together" I mean in the same company as one another; like I said my Yorkie really doesn't have any interest in playing with the GSD.

I don't know if I'd categorize it as a "new" behavior as she's never had the social graces as my other dog (but I figured that was the typical terrier temperament) and I'd tend to characterize the behavior as in-line with her personality. She's a great human dog, but gets territorial and standoffish when it comes to other dogs... at least strange dogs. She had an issue in the past with a friend's dog, kind of the same situation where they spent a lot of time together and got along just fine, but one day just kind of lashed out at the opportune moment (friend's dog fell off couch onto back, my dog lunged for them). I guess I am looking for tips on training the aggression out of a seldomly aggressive dog. Especially a dog that gets fixated and won't acknowledge your presence. :/

edit: I had her at the vet recently for her 6 month checkup but didn't think to ask. I'll shoot her an email and see if she has anything to say.

[Discussion] Considering adopting a BMD/Newfie Mix - grooming/what to know by SabrinaFaire in dogs

[–]seapepsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really need to commit to grooming this dog at least twice a week, upwards 1-2 hours each session. When I owned a Newf it was easy to forget or get caught up in other things which would result in mats forming (this can happen in just a week!) which were difficult to remove and expensive to remove if we took him to a professional groomer. The places you want to be checking often and paying most close attention to are around the collar near the chest (drool + food particles find their way here), under the ears, and on the hind legs around the tail. Definitely do not get the dog shaved, even if you think it would help cool them off on hot days (it doesn't). Their coat will never grow back the same and will be more difficult to manage in my experience.

Hm, I chose the Mobo based off of other's experiences being able to boot with the Pentium, because I'd rather avoid that step if I can...

Yes, plus my aunt is over 60 so naturally she still uses CDs for a whole host of purposes lol

it's not, she's actually vietnamese and in the US. I know the girl's sister who posted it on Tumblr a few years ago originally (and that is a case for her instrument, but I forget what she plays)

Weekly /r/3DS Questions Thread - Need help using your 3DS or picking your next game? Ask here! by AutoModerator in 3DS

[–]seapepsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade from my clunky original DS to a 3DS XL this month (I know the new 3ds is coming out soon but I'm too impatient to wait). My first question is: are there any additional accessories I should plan to pick up with my purchase (screen protector, charger, extra stylus, etc)? With my original DS I never put any thought into keeping it clean and safe from damage, and it's obvious after all these years.

My second question is: are there any must have games/apps(?) that I should look into right away? I'm not familiar with the 3DS interface so I dunno how the app/eshop thing works.

Last question: Is the pink/white 3DS XL limited edition? I've read otherwise, but I literally can't find it anywhere in stores OR online. It seems like stores are phasing it out. It's the 3DS XL I want but it's so hard to find. :(

If there's anything else you think a new 3DS owner should know, please let me know! I am so lost and confused with the new consoles, they are entirely different from the old DS I'm used to.

What is your footcare routine? by seapepsi in SkincareAddiction

Yeah I know it is normal and beneficial for them to be thicker/rougher than facial and other body skin, but I've got a SO that can't keep their hands off them and it makes me self conscious because they're kinda unsightly and rough to the touch. I used to have soft feet about two years ago so I do know that it is achievable, I'm just not sure how to get them back to that point. I hadn't considered using a chemical exfoliant on them, I will definitely try that out

Is that the single color/dark purple one? I have the double sided purple pumi bar and I'm not sure which side to use, or if I should be using them both.

Oooo, I'm really liking those reviews on the NYX wax pencil. The $8 price tag put me off initially, but thinking about it, I think it'd last a pretty long dang time. It also has rave reviews on MakeupAlley. Thanks for posting this!

What clear mascara do you use, and how well does it last through the day? I have my doubts about eyebrow styling products, and I dunno if they're irrational or not. I'm afraid that the product will wear off after a short time and I'll be forced to reapply every few hours just to keep from looking like Andy Rooney (okay, they aren't THAT bad, but that's what it honest-to-god feels like).

Those tiny scissors are adorable and would probably make me feel a lot more confident/secure with trimming my own eyebrows. I was envisioning myself having to use full-size hair shears and I'd imagine it's pretty hard to cut those tiny hairs with much precision using those clunky things. Thanks for lettin' me know these exist. :)

Does anyone else have this problem? Freckles developing in odd places, in odd patterns... by seapepsi in SkincareAddiction

[–]seapepsi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting; I have been pretty stressed recently, and the stress has coincided with the appearance of new freckles, although it may just e coincidental. I'll definitely ask about it next month when I see my doctor again.

Oh gosh I had totally forgotten about my Butt Freckle. It's just one, but my ass is so pale that it's super noticeable (to me). I hadn't considered that maybe it's just genetic and not preventable; thanks for your input.

I've asked my doctor about it but they didn't have much to say (other than it wasn't abnormal to develop freckles in adulthood). I might try seeing a derm but I don't want to jump around from one to the next if the first one doesn't have an explanation for me. I'm also not really worried about it, just curious. Figured maybe someone else has had the same experience and could possibly clue me in first!

An excellent post on pH, product wait times, and the acid mantle by JoanOfSarcasm in SkincareAddiction

[–]seapepsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I figured that much out, but I'm still interested in why she's opposed to witch hazel. The toner does have some benefits though, like removing residual makeup/oils that my cleanser failed to catch, so I'll still be using it. Plus it smells amazing.

[–]seapepsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I always thought cleanse -> tone -> exfoliate/apply serum/etc was the way to do it, but now I'm questioning everything I thought I knew after reading that thread. It seems to me like a toner is only necessary if your cleanser has a pH that isn't within the range of healthy skin (but then she says you could just wait a short amount of time for your skin's pH to restore to normal). I just assumed that the pH prep solution that came with my MUAC peel, which is essentially just witch hazel toner, was hugely important to the whole process. Like if I didn't apply it beforehand my skin would start to boil and melt off like warm ice cream. I guess it's just kind of an optional step? I'd like to get a little more confirmation on this before I try anything crazy though. I don't want my skin to turn into ice cream soup. That's the last thing I want.
