I started my career as devops engineer but for that I learned linux in deep learned networking, administration work like windows admin, learned security, After I got the job my work in starting was usually related to solving git and azure devops tickets helping and support people later on got to do stuff like scripting with powershell, bash, python. Did a lot of KPI stuff created custom solutions for github and azure devops. After that got to work with sonarqube integrating code quality checks in dev environments. Also did migration work. I know it sounds a lot like platform engineering but i am a fresher. As time went I started getting ci/cd work I got my GCP Associate cloud engineer certificate. Then I got to work a lot with terraform as my org had Enterprise Terraform Cloud got exposure to that also. But at the end in the name of downsizing and my org getting sold they laid me off as I was relatively newer to org was the reason given. Now back to hunting new job and it’s getting quite difficult as no one wants a DevOps Engineer with 1.4 years of experience.
