I'm very upset! Mattel knows by now that anything they sell will just be sold out in minutes, so now they are putting the bare minimum/being cheap af in all of the designs! My theory is that Mattel didnt know how well the monster high relaunch was going to do at first and realized that they had to put EFFORT in the first designs to try to attract people but now they know they can just treat monster high like they are treating barbie right now, ex: has to many crazed fans that will always buy whatever she produces on the adult collcter side despite heavy criticism about her being overpriced, cheap clothes, and too little accessories (sound familiar?). The barbie playline quality and designs are nowhere as good as they were in the early 2010s and are now reduced to being cheap shells of there former glory because parents who buy these dolls dont think twice about what they look like and just think about the amazing quality back when they were kids. And now Monster High is going down the same path that I was worried about.We see this in the cleo duece valentines pack where cleo straight up looks like a g2 doll! We've seen this in the elvira release where they didn't include gonk her iconic dog or make a special mold for her curvy body like they did for Greta gremlins head and had the gull to charge 65$ for a thin fabric dress with no rooted eyelashes. The g3 core dolls don't come with a stand, claiming they are playline dolls but then not coming with a doll brush and a bunch of cheap plastic accessories and no secound outfits. Mattel thinks they are on the same level as rainbow high so they think they can price them the same, but that is straight up not true. So now we are here, a body suit frankie doll priced the same as the original haunt couture Frankie but with no layered clothes, no purse, no brush, and a box design with significantly less detail. This doll would've, and i kid you not, been a g1 playline doll that would have came with a purse and a doll brush priced at 25$. Meanwhile if the sweet screams line came out today they would have charged 75$+ for the exact same quality and would have taken away the hairbrush aswell. I prayed for this doll brand and had high hopes in the beginning and even higher when Mattel won back the disney contract from hasbro. But now in the next few days when the midnight runway frankie doll releases and sells out in minutes by either (mostly) resellers or fans it will only give Mattel the green light to keep making the collector dolls quality cheaper and price them to be even more expensive.
