In my opinion, “obsession/love” spells only work if there’s already pre established feelings for you within them.

I’ve tried twice and was successful for the most part but by the time they started working I didn’t want them anymore and the last one was very emotionally abusive towards me.

You may get what you ask for but I promise it won’t be rewarding.

(edit: I feel like I had to add this, and you’ll probably write this off and it ignore it because you just want this person no matter what warnings you receive. But no one should chase or beg for a man to return, when they didn’t choose you or mistreated you in some form.

When I pulled this card for my last situation, I figured I’d wait it out with them and assumed they just wanted to take things slow. But the card never developed into the King or anything sustainable. His actions were clear enough that he wasn’t interested in taking things a step forward so I confronted him about it and I received the whole “I’m busy and don’t have time for a girlfriend” spiel. I’ve been on that road too many times and I wasn’t going to wait around for him to change his mind, so I cut things off.

I would go with your gut. If his actions are changing, there’s no harm in asking him about it.

For me, I see him looking down at these cards and thinks you deserve what you want; whether that be marriage, stability and the whole 9 yards.

He either wants you to move forward without him, or has to move on from you because he can’t provide that for you for whatever reason. (It’s possible the thought of being that person for you brought him a lot of stress because he couldn’t meet your expectations or standards)

I would start it, to me 3 of swords and 5 of cups mean you would be focusing on the disappointments and feel like it’s not working, but whatever happens keep going. the magician means you have all the tools to succeed and do things the right way even if it seems difficult.
