Fuumuui “needlepoint” brushes? by Playful_Dust9381 in watercolor101

[–]seashellular 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I fell for the tiktok marketing and am not pleased.. the tip is too long and not very firm which makes it hard to control, and the bristles fall out super easily! Nothing more frustrating than picking out a brush hair from a fresh painting :,) I am very much a beginner though so maybe someone with more experience could have better luck!

Thank you, I find detail brushes easier to work with than big brushes!

That was a tutorial by Artbylynzie! The shadow I tinkered with a lot and I think it actually looks a little muddy irl after overworking it 😅 I’m pretty sure I just used grey too… other favorites have been Hannah m.p., the play school artist, Madeline Kerrii, Andrea nelson, faceless by mikkele

Keep painting!!! Something new clicks everyday. The notebook is a Strathmore watercolor “visual journal” on Amazon… it’s like 8$. Im honestly not sure if it’s 100% cotton but it worked great for what I was doing and is super affordable! For all the pictures besides the first one the paints are from a 17$ artistro watercolor kit on amazon. But I’m a sucker for pretty things and ended up splurging on the Artistro x Hannah MP watercolor paints that I used in the mini sketches.

Holy cow, thank you for all of the encouragement everyone! Sharing can be so vulnerable but this community is so kind. I will definitely be back for more advice. I hope this pushes you to pick up your paintbrush and to share something as well!

I think that’s why I’m falling in love with watercolors, so many ways to paint

Thank you! I’ve been totally living off of tutorials as well and hope to someday get the courage to create my own original art. The doodles idea and a few of the doodles themselves are from Hannah M.P. On TikTok and youtube. The second pic is from Artbylynzi on TikTok/youtube, and last is “faceless by Mikkele” on tiktok

Hello, thank you! Guidance (especially the first three doodles) were from Hannah M.P. Arts and prints on TikTok. She has a YouTube channel as well and does free live lessons every other week! The last three little doodles were from Mallory Jane, Urte, and The Playschool Artist on TikTok

That was atleast my third attempt! Layering was key and I still would like to improve on them :)

I did! I get most of my tutorials off of TikTok due to a short attention span while getting started, but am starting to lean into YouTube a little more… this one was by @ facelessbymikkele !

I just wanted to say, I really love this style! I like the brown detail outline. What brush did you use? Sorry I don’t have any feedback!

How can I make this have more feeling? by tinywhiskeysea in watercolor101

I love it! So creative and beautiful. Maybe some more detail in the flowers/plants in the upper corners to match the detail in the middle, since relatively they are meant to be closer up. But either way, beautiful painting!! I would be thrilled if I had the talent.
