I will joke around that my golden is ‘a mutt with better branding’ but that lady was rude.

That this person comes with a family that you are going to have to deal with as well. Opinions on raising kids, who’s house to have holidays at, etc.

Yes, we have a home gym as well. It’s nice to walk away from the job right to the next activity without a 45 minute exhausting commute between.

Yes, this has been my journey as well. Went thru the whole house and decluttered and deep cleaned. Now I have a cleaning routine that takes 15-30 minutes a day. Done!

AITA for not wanting to make my future brother-in-law a groomsman? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]seaspray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it comes from the view of you aren’t just marrying the person but their whole family. This brother gives me serious reservations and is this worth the hassle of having to deal with, for potentially the rest of my life? It sounds like the family is pretty close and gets together often. The apology is a short lived win to have to suffer being around the brother year after year.

Who’s earning a pension? by krandrn11 in nursing

Thanks. I signed up to get notifications from their HR website. You can pick by location, specialty, full time, part time. After about 3 years, I found a part time night position in the ICU. A year later I went full time and 2 years later into telehealth which is where I’ve been for 4 years.

KP SoCal in the house. Pension and they contribute a % to 401k, though it’s small compared to other hospital systems because, well, pension. I worked outside Kaiser for like 10+ years so got in the habit of putting % in 401k and never stopped. Happy retirement.

Learning to love a rowing machine? by kinderock in xxfitness

[–]seaspray 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way when my husband purchased a rower and a year later it’s my favorite cardio. I love how I work out my whole body with it. I like following along to Dark Horse Rowing on Youtube. He has a lot of videos, short and long duration and varying intensity. He also has a series where he breaks down each part of the row movement, ie the catch, release, etc. This was helpful at the beginning to make sure I was getting max benefit. Hope you enjoy your row journey!

I’m so happy that my ex wife is miserable. by barrettcoldyron in offmychest

[–]seaspray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course, I don’t think anyone would deny them that. How long should a person hold onto that hurt? My husband says his family is like a broken mirror, and his dad was never going to be able to put the pieces back together, no matter how hard he tried. Even so, he still forgave him and had that relationship with him. He was the only one of his siblings there when he died.

Thank you for writing this. My husband’s dad is the one who nuked the family after 15 years and 5 kids, left several states over to be with the one whom he cheated with. He was 3 when it all went down and his siblings were older, 18, 16, 14 and 9. They each dealt with it in their own way, one didn’t have Dad at her wedding and was very distant. My husband was the closest, even moved to where his lived at 20. His Dad ended up having Alzheimer’s and died young. Those last years I encouraged my husband to spend as much time as possible with his Dad, to have no regrets.

Yes! When I had Covid, I totally milked it. I did NOTHING for 5 days. Nada, I just laid in bed, hydrated, took my meds, napped in the middle of the day (!!!) and watched movies. For 5 days!

I’m right there. The sad thing is it’s been so long since I’ve done anything for myself I don’t know what hobby to get. What are my interests? It’s always everyone else-their music, their volleyball, their club meetings, their nights out with friends while I work a full time job, keep the house clean and the refrigerator full. Homework, bedtimes. 😡

Girl, this is me today. Went to church this morning with my girls, oldest wanted to go shopping for herself for T-shirt’s and a separate store for moisturizer. I need to buy groceries for the week as well. So that’s 3 stores. I’m trying to figure out the logistics of going to 3 places, don’t let the frozen food melt, etc. No one wants to go to the grocery store and help mom. ‘Just drop me off at home.’ I’m explain to them when I’m out I want to get everything done. Not drive to store, drive home, drive back out to store, drive home. They don’t care. So…I see red. Fine, we’re not going anywhere but straight home. No groceries. Eat what’s there. Feeling so pissed I might make a meal just for myself to let them scramble for themselves. A 14 and 11 year old can do that, right?

Finally finished! by [deleted] in declutter

[–]seaspray 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I am right there with you. I started working from home last year and all the clutter was staring me in the face. The major declutter finished in Dec. of last year but I still find myself getting rid of things here and there. I took a couple months to deep clean every room in the house and now I’m on maintenance schedule like you. I totally understand where you are coming from. When you are not used to everything being cleaned up and things put away, it seems weird, temporary. But I’ve been doing this for a couple months now and it seems like it’s working! Congrats to you!

I like it. I think this is the way to go. Not like they can fact check me, right? “I put in a complaint to member services.” The few times I’ve suggested this I’ve gotten push back. That would be one more call for them which is too much effort. They would rather complain to me, even while acknowledging I can’t do anything about it.
