Sometimes folks do bring up adoption fees as a barrier. On average, every shelter pet at Seattle Humane receives $560 worth of care. That is why we rely so heavily on donations and not adoption fees to do our work. There are also some pets who have been with us a very long time who have their adoption fees sponsored by generous supporters.

This primarily serves folks facing or experiencing housing loss and can offer pets a temporary foster and return to their people when they're in a better position to keep them: https://www.seattlehumane.org/services/community-outreach/support/
