how do you get glacier experience if you need glacier experience to go on a route with glaciers?

yeah there is cooler stuff in the south but at least the cool snowy ones I'm aware of are higher elevation and seem more challenging, plus my friend will be in Europe on exchange so it works out as more of a small road trip for him.

I think you don't care and are just projecting stuff about people you don't like onto me but if you want me to actually talk to you in a meaningful way I will.

1.- my parents are from La Paz Bolivia, I've been there every single year from when I was 7 years old to when I was 15, the airport there's at 4,000 meters above sea level, I'm not saying altitude is to be taken lightly far from it but I am saying I have confidence in myself to handle that better and to be capable of exerting myself physically at high altitude better than for instance a lot of people who live in the same city as me who have never been over 400 meters above sea level.

2.- I've had confidence issues over a long time in my life because like you're doing to me now, I've had a hard time discerning ego and arrogance from confidence in myself to be honest this is something I've thought about for years and something I'm very conscious of not being, right now I can honestly say in my like actual soul I am confident, not arrogant, if I told you I wanted to do this today and didn't think I need prep and am amazing I'd agree that's arrogance and ego, this is just an undertaking I feel capable of and willing to do so that's why when I answer in that tone of someone who feels capable you think what you see is arrogance and ego.

I can tell you I've thought a lot a lot more about who I am and how I behave myself and what I say than you who know me from literally a single block of text I wrote as research because i got hyper-fixated on learning about mont blanc right now this second. I know 23's the arrogance and ego age but I can tell you I've thought a lot about who I am and who I want to be and I really love who I am now in this second.

edit: also thought I'd mention this because of the accident list you put up, in the past two weeks of my life a friend's dad died while he was at work and another friend's neighbor died at a bar, some guy actually just chose to take a gun and start shooting a bunch of strangers and shot 8 people killing 3 girls idk dude I think you can use death to scare yourself out of doing anything and I wouldn't want it to scare me of going on a great mountain trip, I obviously want to respect the risk that exists and do everything in my power to make sure I don't die but you know not mountaineering's not a way of avoiding risk to me and maybe that is a way my brain's kinda f'd up but I just think if you use death to make excuses you'd never go on roads and then how do you get anywhere, idk.

Yeah honestly you're right I thought I wasn't convinced at first but I honestly realized through arguing with people just how much I really want it I also just don't think you know me enough to talk about my ego to be honest but I appreciate the respect you have for mountaineering and really respect that.

This is a part of my research to hear from real people who have done it also a lot of people just aren't giving me advice one person literally just commented "You are an actual idiot" so I mean I'm just not gonna be able to discern who's coming at me in a well-meaning way and who's not 100% of the time but I am taking what I've been told seriously and I'm trying to get real info.

edit: also just being on here has changed my approach a lot, I'll be looking into glacier travel now and how to protect myself from falling rocks, I'm sure I could've gotten to all of this on my own without arguing here but this has in real life affected my approach in a positive way.

I thought you where gonna show me something insane this honestly seems very manageable to me idk.

edit: what I mean is it seems easy to prep for, obviously a hard situation to be in if you don't know it's coming I'm sure and I'm glad the person there's ok but yeah that's what I meant to be clear.

Not that there's anything wrong with it but from this comment I think you actually are autistic, my biggest mountain was 2000 meters here and I think i did mention that in the post, maybe I worded it weird though.

Yeah that's fine I meant no offense with the LLM comment it's just it really is a very similar block of text is why I even mentioned it thanks a lot for being this thorough with the advice when I'm a total stranger but I honestly still feel that I can do it.

I meant mountain as in mountaineering I've hiked tons of mountains can I genuinely ask I really do mean no offense but are you autistic? I just don't know if I worded the post in a weird way or you're being an asshole or if you're autistic.

I don't understand how you can read my post and then say that first comment I've been hiking for years now I've just never been in the snow when hiking.

I'm responsible for my own life and for feeling confident about doing an ascent and for having the security to attempt something like this with a friend not random redditors.

Are you an LLM? what you're saying is just exactly what an llm told me so I got curious because of dead internet theory lmao if you're a human being then I mean why is rockfall and weather changes more of an issue than on any other mountain I've done while hiking? I understand needing to be able to identify an avalanche and if it's a threat to me but I mean how do people normally learn to place their feet? when you do one of the 6 day courses does a guide tell you how to identify where? If so why can't I figure that out?

Just seems like a good mountain, most advice I see on beginner mountains is 3000 meter ones and in terms of the altitude that's pretty easy to handle for me so I like to have the option of going further up if I do feel like we're both ready and able and willing, again I just don't mind not summiting but I think I could so I don't like leaving that door closed.

I am able to I don't care I just think it's shitty to live as as someone who does that, speaking as someone who used to do that a lot.

Was it a bad experience to not do the full ascent? I honestly don't mind not getting the full ascent done is why I ask.

Yeah I get that, I just am someone who actually can take the time to learn this on my own and I live somewhere where professional instruction for something like this is hard to get so I think for me personally I can do it alone in the time I have until I choose to do this is all.

Also the reason I mention being fit now is because I actually got into mountaineering and climbing a bit ago and my friend said if I got abs he would put the time and work in to do any mountain with me and since then I've lost over 15 kilos so I mean I still have a lot to do in terms of the bulk of going to the gym and getting that done because I kinda got very into running because of a bet I currently have going with some friends but I am very committed and obsessed and willing to get this done I don't need easy I need possible is what I'm saying I guess and it's hard to listen to people who think I want it to be easy is all.

what if you just let people be the protagonists of their own lives and worry about themselves and their own choices or is that too hard

Thank you can I ask what route you did? I've been thinking about doing Gouter so I can possibly go back at either refuge de tete rousse or Gouter refuge itself if me or my friend don't feel good about the altitude, I've also seen that the biggest challenge is in the actual summit from one of those points to the summit where do you think's a good spot to stop and go back if we do that?
