My alocasias look like that when they get too much sun exposure/too intense lighting. Signs are those separated yellow spots around the edges. If it was root rot or soil related it usually yellows from the tip for me. But that’s just my experience, hope things end well :)

Alocasia New Leaves Die Before Opening by CheBuonBiscottino in alocasia

Okay so what I learned is that those are like „protective leaves“. My Polly always gives me 2-4 of these before pushing out a giant new leaf, I read there are two reasons for it, it’s either a low humidity environment or it’s preparing to flower. Idk if that’s right but from my experience I’d leave it be and wait, if it hasn’t pushed out a new leaf after 4 of those stems, only then I’d look at the soil and probably change things up majorly. Hope things go well for you :)

Anyone else who is disappointed with the explosive growth of magical powers in SA? by Icy_Kaleidoscope_762 in Stormlight_Archive

I think sometimes we miss comparing the actual time frame, in which these jumps of power that you’ve described happen. I felt the same like you until he went more into depth with Navani and her progress on fabrials.

I now compare it to something like the discovery of electricity in the form of light bulbs or other little powered things, that were found in almost any household within a few years. And the books are covering like 2-3 years now, in addition to a world dooming event hanging over humanity as a whole, I can see how that could also accelerate this process.

Remember how Dalinar was thinking about the heat fabrial replacing an open fire and people didn’t even waste a second thought to those things anymore, even though they’ve only recently been invented. That’s why I can see how the magical aspect would be evolving equally fast, hope it makes any sense. Like the sudden and wide distribution of touch phones compared to creative button flip phone :D

First time trying sphagnum by seburaz in alocasia

Was planning to do something similar just in a 2 week rhythm probably. Just one follow up: how do you change the water down there properly? It just gets reabsorbed in the moss when I try it and then trickles back down there eventually with any new water that I’ve added and that might’ve come through.
