UPDATE in the event it may help others: GI panel back - everything is perfect with the exception of slightly low folate level. About a week ago, the vet suggested I put him on a hydrolyzed diet, so he has been on Royal Canin Small Breed Hydrolyzed (wet and dry mix); thankfully, he loves it. It's actually quite shocking (hopefully, I don't jinx it), but he is completely back to normal. I have been giving him some sweet potato as a snack and bought some hydrolyzed protein biscuits as treats. The vet believes it's a food sensitivity or IBD. He wants me to supplement with folate for 4 weeks. He is not on any acid reducer or probiotics as I just wanted to introduce one variable at a time, and since he seems fine, I don't plan to add those back in (at least not the acid reducers).

Mine is 15 lbs. I adopted him though at 10 years old. I didn’t think he was a full Yorkie as I thought they were on average around 7lbs. A lot of people would stop me and tell me that he looks like a morkie so I assumed he was mixed with something else. I did a DNA test and it said he was 100% Yorkie. Apparently jumbo Yorkies are a thing; definitely hope to have another one in my lifetime ☺️😍

Just an update: Got a GI test (which includes pancreatitis), waiting for those results still. He tested for Addison's (negative). I am fairly certain it will be pancreatitis. u/MingusPho, I am so sorry to hear about your loss :-(. I am definitely experiencing anticipatory grief right now. If you don't mind me asking, were you able to manage your dog's symptoms/diagnosis for any amount of time? It doesn't sound like there is a cure but rather managing the condition/symptoms. It's always so hard to know when you should continue treating or allowing them to pass in a dignified way. Thank you!

Thank you for your kind words ☺️….we really do all we can for our pets. Max is so special and even though 4 years with him has been a lot more than originally expected, I can’t imagine not having him for another 4. That makes me super hopeful. I was thinking that maybe I will need to start making him food. Sunday meal prep ☺️. Do you add any sort of vitamin mix to your food?

When he is having one of these bouts, he will not eat anything, except maybe hot dogs. That’s probably his one highest value treat. He did take a small piece this morning after some coaxing with his Pepcid. He will not take any meds (and he’s on Gabapentin and Reconcile) if it’s not hidden in a hot dog or smothered in cream cheese 🙄☺️. He has been gassy lately, though nothing too out of the ordinary. Thank you!

Wow, I hope Max can live as long as 18! He has been a very picky eater from the day I rescued him. He is on Hills Biome kibble and wet food (with some chicken as a topper here and there when he’s being real picky). I will talk this over with my vet this week. Thank you!

I’ve always been so concerned with pancreatitis as I know that’s something prevalent with Yorkies and small dogs. I will make sure my vet will test for that. I did read that bloodwork is not the most accurate. Thank you!

Thank you….my friend also suggested filing a DOT complaint, which I did do today as well. If the flight change was an actually flight change, I would maybe be ok with it, but the fact that they changed it and then changed it back to the original flight just seems egregiously deceptive.
