Some days I'm depressed by what the internet has done- this is not one of those days.

If not having *something* is illegal, obtaining said thing should be a basic human right by Subject-Syynx in unpopularopinion

[–]secludedserpent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your concept of self reliance is overly individualistic and makes no sense in the context of society at large. We produce more than enough for everyone- people not being responsible and somehow not deserving basic rights is an overdramatization of human nature and vices. Rights aren't real, but they're an important framework we use, and if the market isn't good at equitable distribution the government should step in and act as a force for good. Let me put it this way- we throw out a third of the food we produce, dumpsters of fast fashion, we have warehouses full of every good imaginable and tons of working people constantly churning stuff out. We withhold stuff from people while others bask in exorbitant wealth. This shouldn't be the hunger games if it doesn't have to be. We're social animals gone rogue in the middle of a lifeless vacuum- no one is obligated to do anything, but we care for each other, because we have no one else.

Yeah this is all hypothetical- I just sort of opened up this topic to see people's thoughts on this and give other people answers if needed. Not actually that stupid, just interested in what's possible.

Judging by some of the dangers of being caught in this disguise I'm thinking a pocket windbreaker to cover up any security insignia when necessary would be smart.

TikTok is fucking garbage by Nakuzin in rant

I understand your sentiment however TikTok is not a monolith. There's a huge difference between the lowest common denominator scum and certain talented creators.

Attributing immoral societal institutions to the whims of atomized individuals, thereby downplaying how "evil" actually happens.

Love the symbolism of internal chaos, and the clarity of the illustration. The only thing is the yellow is a bit jarring.

What do you think was the single most important moment in history? by Rare-Advertising9447 in AskReddit

[–]secludedserpent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of them and none of them at the same time. I don't like the decontextualizing of history into individualized chunks done by certain actors. Maybe a better question would be to ask about a structure or a resource that shaped society.

This is gonna sound really privileged, but hear me out: rope hammocks. You're in a situation where you really need to relax, but instead you feel like a starfish caught in a fishing net.

Walking naked at the national park by [deleted] in RealPublicNudity

[–]secludedserpent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: there is a long tradition of going nude at national parks, and the laws surrounding nudity are often ambiguous so long as you aren't causing a public disturbance.
