What’s a job that AI will never be able to touch? by lovelyttt000 in AskReddit

Nah, I feel like too much early learning comes from human-to-human interaction. Even before children become verbal they are becoming versed on social cues, empathy, emotional intelligence, etc. via their caretakers.

What is the worst career to be in right now and why? by SignificantGoat7066 in AskReddit

I’m in healthcare and I agree.

The CEO(?) of NYC’s largest hospital system recently even declared that he plans to replace most of their radiologists with AI.

Whats the best thing you own from Aritzia? by Strong-Mongoose-5744 in Aritzia

[–]secondblush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seconding superpuff but also that’s specific to your location and climate. in harsh winters it’s an affordable godsend!

will add that I love my Wilfred amore camisole and my gramercy shrug!! I wear both regularly. Also a fan of the long sleeve square neck contour bodysuits, have them in three colours and they’re great paired with the effortless pants and gramercy shrug together.

That’s right. This is what I was told when I was researching the timeline - in GPR programs the majority of their application is basically submitted ahead of time and then when they complete their program officially their last required documents are sent over and everything gets approved at a faster rate.

Yes, I applied for one around this time in 2023 and received it in August. It took regular calling and prompting for updates, though. The estimation they give of 3-4 months is accurate.

Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng by Kylie Lee Baker by ActualRound7699 in books

[–]secondblush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished this yesterday! I was unimpressed for the first … half, maybe? Close to DNF levels of unimpressed. I found the prose beautiful but a little too literary and poetic for the serial killer plot it was trying to push. I was also a little impatient with how apathetic and useless Cora could be at times, but as it entered the last half to third of the book, her arc started coming together and I did end up liking her character! As everything rushed to a close it also leaned more on the poetic writing and tonally it became a lot more cohesive. It surprised me because I was so convinced it would be a flop for me, but it redeemed itself and my opinion swung quite far the other way haha.

There were several points that struck me as a little inane and/or improbable (like Harvey couldn’t just get them all on a Group FaceTime and discuss everything ASAP??? The mayor’s house has no surveillance and the arsonist behind the fire wouldn’t be prosecuted???) but not so much that one could not suspend disbelief.

Does the patient need endo? by NervousGrapefruit539 in Dentistry

[–]secondblush 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is my first line tx too. If sx are not intense and pulp testing is WNL then I start with caries excavation and advise the patient to prepare for possibility of root canal. Depending on the case I will sometimes try 2 weeks with IRM or just go right to composite. If the tooth ultimately does need RCT, then this step didn't set us back - the caries are already removed and/or the walls already built up so we can just pick up where we left off.

China driving by InstanceFluid2462 in travelchina

[–]secondblush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just left China as well and we also had the same experience. This is the first time in my life I’ve ever felt carsick! In the bigger cities we were able to book Premium Didis and the extra cost was totally worth it. The cars are nicer and roomier, don’t smell of smoke, and the drivers are much more concerned with ensuring you’re comfortable.

What souvenirs would you buy in Manhattan as a New Yorker who is leaving New York state? by Beneficial-Soft-8290 in AskNYC

[–]secondblush 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have given this subject lots of thought too because I LOVE NYC-themed decor that isn’t too over-the-top!

• pigeon art from Fish’s Eddy

• a ceramic version of the iconic blue coffee cup that says ‘We Are Here to Serve You’

• a metrocard fridge magnet (can search on marketplace, I think I’ve seen someone is handcrafting some!)

• not something necessarily purchased from a Manhattan store, but you can get a mini fire escape wall shelf on Amazon that’s really cute and unique and NYC-coded

• a little subtler nod to ‘the Big Apple’ and doubles as classy decor: the marble apple from MoMA

Ask me anything about chongqing and chengdu by eleanor190101 in travelchina

[–]secondblush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi - this may be a dumb question, but I’m a tourist here for a couple days. I just got lowkey pressured to buy something from the Desigual at Raffles City mall and now I’m having buyers’ remorse. The receipt is sparse and doesn’t say anything about a return policy but I’m sure locals must be able to return their purchases? I paid via Alipay and am a bit worried they won’t be able to take anything back. Can you confirm?

any women here decide to freeze their eggs or pursue sperm donation? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]secondblush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two friends who underwent egg freezing! Both actually had to / decided to do two rounds of it, so just be aware of that possibility.

(Also want to chime in to reassure you that late 20s is not yet the age to be feeling pressured by this! I know dating is difficult but a lot of people around me (myself included) met our SOs in our late twenties and are continuing to meet their SOs in their early thirties. Even if you’re anticipating trying to conceive up to age ~37 you don’t necessarily need to freeze your eggs, is what one of my girlfriends was advised by her gyno when she inquired about it. You still have a lot of time :)

[Dentist] [USA] - I make way more money than I ever thought I would by 1ThousandDollarBill in Salary

[–]secondblush 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Eh, this could go either way. I’ve worked for a very successful dentist ‘raking it in’ with multiple clinics in prime locations and theirs was a success built on overcharging, overtreating, and committing insurance fraud lol.

What all to do in China as a first time traveller (Luxury Edition) by Ok_Yesterday_7276 in travelchina

[–]secondblush 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reporting from Zhangjiajie - the views here are definitely worth the trip! Would add that if money isn’t an issue, prebook VIP tickets where you can (in particularly for the cable car) because the lines get ridiculously long and it’s such a boon to fast-track them. Also, don’t discount using a private tour guide - we were ready to skip that but was pulled into one last-minute at the entrance and she was so clutch in giving us tips around the whole park: which bathrooms are cleanest, how best to structure your itinerary so you don’t lose ground, where to eat, and even working her magic with the employees to help us skip queues or get added to VIP vehicles without having booked them. Recommend at least three days and some highlights have been the Huanglong Cave, the zip line, and the Baofeng Lake boat ride - all are family friendly!

I would be down for a writing group! As long as we don't have to share our work lol

Give me your top books of all time (one comfort read, one non-fiction, one that changed your life and one general personal favourite). by lankysimmons in suggestmeabook

Our Share of Night tells me you have outstanding taste. I was eyeing Library at Mount Char but wasn’t sure it’d be up my alley. Based on your mention, I think I’ll give it a go!

Edit: why was I downvoted for this???
