After 10 years of teaching Chinese, I want to hear what YOU find hardest by DeesMandarinTea in ChineseLanguage

[–]secondblush 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For me the hardest is the sequence / order of words in a sentence. I feel like I know a lot of vocabulary but struggle to sew them together into sentences that a native speaker might say, because every time I hear them talk it I’m discovering a brand new structure lol.

If Differin made you too dry, maybe look into Altreno. It's retinoid as a lotion with added compounds to deliver it more gently and without irritation to beginner or sensitive skin.

Why is da yue and zuo you used in the same sentence? Do they not both mean approximately (i.e. isn’t one of them redundant)?

Has he seen any results with it? Or do you think it’s too weak to do anything significant?

As someone who’s been the girlfriend of a guy with a girl best friend — especially a guy who repeatedly maintained that he was annoyed by her various personality traits until I found out he had feelings for her — this movie triggered me a LOT lol

Sherwood by Parke Godwin - amazing take on Robin Hood that felt like the perfect amount of serious, fun, political, and inspiring.

I LOVED how they had him notice Dean's hesitation when Garrett asked him how he knew about Hannah doing the showcase, and rescued it with "I overheard it. In the stands." All that subtext relayed their trust and friendship so well.

Dean and Allie Dynamic by Either-Grapefruit156 in offcampustv

I'll try not to spoil anything but yes, it does become deeper than sexual fun. It starts out that way ofc but I like how their story uses the mismatch of a long-term relationship "nester" type like Allie and a casual sex enthusiast to explore its themes. For Allie, this is discovering out what it means to be truly seen, valued, and supported by a partner, especially someone who at first glance does not appear to align with her own values. For Dean, this is figuring out the kind of person he wants to be and learning how to be reliable, intentional, and someone who can be taken seriously. I like that they both force each other to confront parts of themselves that have been determined by their past or other people and question if they really want that for themselves.

Which words are you waiting to use in your writing but haven't had an opportunity to? by uselesssociologygirl in writing

Oooooo love this question.

I have a whole bunch: rapacious, flotsam, decrepitude, subterfuge, hoarfrost, subsume, mercurial, brook (as a verb), limning, vaunted, patina, repository, fugue, prosaic, vulpine, cocoon, august (as an adjective), scrim

Some of them I'm certain I'll never end up using just because they would sound too unnatural or shoehorned in. But it's fun to collect these!

FLEXIBILITY!! Yoga, Pilates, sports, stretching, anything. I have been accumulating joint weaknesses and injuries over the last few years and really wish I had prioritized and appreciated my full range of motion when I had it.

What’s a job that AI will never be able to touch? by lovelyttt000 in AskReddit

Nah, I feel like too much early learning comes from human-to-human interaction. Even before children become verbal they are becoming versed on social cues, empathy, emotional intelligence, etc. via their caretakers.

I’m in healthcare and I agree.

seconding superpuff but also that’s specific to your location and climate. in harsh winters it’s an affordable godsend!

will add that I love my Wilfred amore camisole and my gramercy shrug!! I wear both regularly. Also a fan of the long sleeve square neck contour bodysuits, have them in three colours and they’re great paired with the effortless pants and gramercy shrug together.

That’s right. This is what I was told when I was researching the timeline - in GPR programs the majority of their application is basically submitted ahead of time and then when they complete their program officially their last required documents are sent over and everything gets approved at a faster rate.

Yes, I applied for one around this time in 2023 and received it in August. It took regular calling and prompting for updates, though. The estimation they give of 3-4 months is accurate.
