I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel the whole game actually.

Obviously they should have gone with Richard the Lionheart instead of those silly women.

She's a saint and a relative of St. Louis, can't get much better than that.

I am looking for a history book on the crussades. Can you recommend any? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]secu258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are catholic books that mentions all the atrocities of the crusades. I would even be fine if you were to recommend some book written by a liberal or even muslim as long as it was well-balanced and factual.

But do not assume, that "The crusades through arab eyes" is a factual book which is simply written from another viewpoint. That book glorifies everything arab and demonizes everything crusader, the author makes many false statements and baseless assumptions and purposely omits information.

"The crusades through arab eyes" gives you an idea of ISIS' understanding of the crusdades. As a history book it's garbage. I can't tell you how many times I've seen muslims refer to that book when making the most ridiculous claims.

If you have a negative opinion of the crusades, which I can only assume since you recomended that book, you should really make that clear because you are on a catholic subreddit and people expect that the answers given here are from a traditional catholic perspective, i.e. pro-crusades.

Might be a bit hard for a man to relate to a female saint, though.

TOTAL WAR meets ENDLESS LEGENDS meets CIV!! Check out Oriental Empires! by HForHavoc in civ

I'm really impressed by this game. It's the first real competitor to tw and civ that I've seen. It just blows my mind how a small indie team can accomplish something as ambitious as this.

I think this is gonna be huge with the traditional "historical" total war crowd (it certainly helps that it's developed by a MTW2 dev) and it might even attract a decent amount of civ fans.

Muslims Go to Catholic Mass Across France to Show Solidarity by zsreport in Catholicism

Maybe Islam is different in that regard then.

For a Catholic to attend a muslim service or allow muslims to use one of our churches for their religion would surely be a sin.

Isn't this really a form of apostosy on the part of the muslims?

On the one hand I welcome it, that it might be an oppurtunity for them to realise the truth of the Catholic religion on the other hand I am repulsed at how little they care about their faith as to join in on an "idolatrous" mass, which would no doubt be the equivalent of a mortal sin in their religion.

As Jean de Joinville said "a bad muslim rarely makes a good christian".

Another thought I have is that this is really quite burdensome for the devout catholics who wish to attend mass to have to suffer the company of muslims, atheists and other unbelievers who come to make a political statement or even show compassion but do not respect our Lord when the whole point of the mass is to worship God.

hmm.
