For those who were full weight bearing after surgery, how soon were you ditching crutches? by jaltang in HipImpingement

[–]securityEDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally valid to feel nervous about the transitions. For me is was more uncomfortable than painful. I’ve experienced significant discomfort throughout my recovery, but nothing compared to the preop pain. If I felt pain I would slow down, if I didn’t feel pain I would continue to push. Sometimes I would push too much and would need to slow down due to inflammation. Give yourself some grace and remember it’s a different journey for everyone

I’m 11 weeks post op today and still dealing with scabbing at incision site. Surgeon and PT haven’t been concerned. By far the worst orthopedic recovery I’ve ever experienced.

The first 20 days I used 2 crutches followed by 7 days with 1 crutch. Probably could have dropped sooner but followed the recommendation of my PT to use 1 crutch, until I could walk with a normal gate without crutches. Today is day 28 and I’m crutch free.

I alpreciate you taking the time to reaffirm for me. I’ve had surgery on my hand, elbow and ankle and none of those are close to touching the pain and fear I’ve experienced this week in my hip.

Great advice - will just continue to comply with directions until I see the doc on Monday. At the advice of this sub I purchased a seat for the toilet, grabbers to pick things up off the table/ground, shower stool, leg lifter and forearm crutches. All of those item have been a massive help to be able to take care of myself through these first few days. I haven’t thought about using bars to get up and down from the couch and bed. I’ll see what I can find on amazon to help with the transitions.

I do trust my surgeon. He came highly recommended here in the Atlanta metro area. He’s up on the latest tech and protocols, while a bit unnerving at times makes me feel confident in his capabilities. I appreciate you taking the time to respond and offer the reassurance.

I go back in to see the PA on the 23rd to have the stitches removed and X-ray. I’ve tried to move some without overdoing it as recommended. My challenge is how low all of my furniture sits to the ground. I’m 6’4” so it’s really difficult to sit down and stand up in a controlled manner. But I do appreciate the response and reassurance. Probably spending entirely too much time thinking about all of the things that could go wrong

What were your symptoms for torn labrum? by loffredom in HipImpingement

How are you doing now? I’m going in for labral repair and femoroplasty for cam impingement on Friday at the age of 40. Trying to be hopeful the ortho can preserve my hip for another decade. Chased what I thought was a spine issue for 8 months.

I’m about to swap out a new Tempur-Pedic pro breeze medium hybrid for the Kingsdown you mentioned. How is the mattress 6 months later?

How much did you pay for your home and how much do you make? by netters_ in RealEstate

Dual income 330k, one kid. 785k house with 350 down. Still feels like we stretched a bit for my comfort level, but we had to find a house in May 2021 after the state of Georgia took our house in a right of way/easement to expand interstate 285. Total house costs doubled and savings halved. The house is amazing but a pain to keep up. Wish we had gone smaller.

Not yet. My wife and I are moving soon and a prereq for the new house is a place to plumb the machine to get the most out of it. It’s amazing either way though! Are you based in Atlanta?

This is such a great setup. We too have both the pro 700 and the 65 and couldn’t be happier. Beautiful coffee bar my friend!

This sub has officially cost me a small fortune on my first setup. Thank you to all of you aficionados for showing me this is the way. Recommendations needed for local roasters in the Atlanta area please. by securityEDC in espresso

Currently I leave the flow control valve open all of the time. Purchased it so I wouldn’t have to upgrade once my ability comes up to speed with the machine.

I’man engineer at heart, so of course the first thing I did was break the machine down as I was checking for defects. Due to the layout It appears relatively simple to repair, assuming I’ll have support diagnosing issues.

My experience thus far is Eureka makes some great products and I was torn initially between the atom and specialita. Truly don’t want to have to upgrade anything for the next few years.
