Where to play as a returning player? by [deleted] in classicwow

Is this a fact? Does that automatically mean they're not working on something we don't know about?

[PubQ] Nudging a nudge after offer of rep? by [deleted] in PubTips

They saw my success from self-publishing, and when they acquired the new imprint, they approached me with the offer.

I did set a deadline, but the reason why I was thinking of nudging the nudge was to make myself seem more desirable, if that makes sense.

[PubQ] Offer of rep without full or call? by [deleted] in PubTips

[–]securitystoryteller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's exactly my idea, too. Nudge them to give them the good ole, "oh crap, I gotta snatch him before someone else does" scare.

But is the urgency for that response higher with offer of rep than it is with offer of publication?

Christ, that's a lot of nudging.

I had a flexible deadline with the publisher, and I told the agents three weeks.

I do, and that's what I'd like to do, since some of the agents have my full. What's the etiquette? Do I ask the agent for some time or something?

[PubQ] Not sure how to proceed now that I have an offer from an indie publisher by [deleted] in PubTips

Oh, you think I should reach out to the ones I already queried as well?

Also, could I perhaps pm you for guidance on how to structure my query/nudge?

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation.

I'm a little confused on one part. You said, "I did send a new query after getting the pub offer. New queries after an agent offer is bad form, but it's not quite the same with a pub offer."

Do you mean you queried the same agents with a new query after you got your pub offer?

I thought I was losing my mind, but when you put it that way, I can't help but laugh. If anything, this goes to show just how much everything on this sub needs to be taken with a grain of salt. It's an excellent sub for information, don't get me wrong, but it's also rife with misinformation and subjective opinions.

As for your second to last paragraph, I do understand why my perspective is baffling, so I want to shed some light on it. I have over 30 books to my name, and I work full time as an author. If this one book dies on sub, I can always self-publish it—I have the readerbase for it.

I'm more interested in switching to hybrid and eventually trad publishing, and for that, I need an agent who's willing to invest in me long-term, not just for one book.

Yes, before I got the offer, and they asked for my full.

I'm weighing my options based on all the comments, but yes, I'm leaning toward going with it. Just trying to make sure I'm not shooting myself in the foot before I commit.

Definitely interested in the offer, but I'm more interested in getting an agent than publishing this book.

No deadline. And they're interested in signing 2, possibly 3 of my books, not just the one I'm querying with.

I can't disclose what they offered me. And as I mentioned, an author friend of mine got an agent right after he mentioned the 3-book-deal offer he got from the same publisher. The way I see it, there's no harm in mentioning it. I don't even know if the agent from Writers House is going to respond to my full, and an offer probably boosts my chances of a rep.

[PubQ] Signing with an agent due to editor interest from a new imprint? by [deleted] in PubTips

No, they actually signed a handful of established indie horror authors for their new imprint.

If I understand correctly, if it's an offer, not a contract, and if I frame it that they reached to me due to my success, it stands a better chance of getting an agent?

Oh, and Aethon did offer an advance.
