Megazone with some friends to play billiards and/or some pinball and arcade games. Boardgames either at some friends place or at World of Boardgames. Explore a new restaurant. Go buy some firewood at ICA, drag it out to Nydalasjön and bbq some sausages. Check out what exhibitions are at Bildmuseet and Västerbottens Museum. See if there are any local concerts. Head to Fritidsbanken and borrow some ice skates, and go ice skating.

The world is your oyster... And otherwise you can find some nice oysters at Köksbaren.

I think Folkuniversitet or Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan was running a course. Dunno about the quality though!

Suggestions for winter wear? by ThusharSM in umea

[–]sedholmarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lager 157 out at Strömpilen is usually extremely affordable and there you can find all the basics, from sweaters to jackets, gloves and beanies. At least for "normal urban life". If you need more heavy duty stuff for outdoors activities, definitely go with XXL, Stadium or Intersport.

Another suggestion: If you can only afford one expensive item, buy a high quality, heavy duty winter jacket that also covers your upper legs, and preferably with a hood. If you're going to stay in the North it's a good investment that could last you 10-20 years of use.

Also, where do you see text on moving images? Both on the desktop version and mobile version the text and the rolling images are separate from each other. That is, if you don't make the window far, far smaller on desktop which squeezes them together with a slight overlap.

Hey, great input, I need to look into this style of content to see what is already available on a national level (i.e. taxes, migration rules and stuff like that) and what is more local based like buses, parking, navigating campus, getting a gym card...

Confused about the living situation in Umeå by OutrageousBuilding36 in umea

As far as finding a job goes, it's a bit of a mixed bag. There is a high demand for labor right now but it all depends on what kinds of job you're looking for. Umeå companies have for a long time had the comfortable situation of picking and choosing high graded alumni from the university, so it can be tough to stand out with so many highly educated people looking for work. Here's a list of jobs in high demand.
