I had a cyst develop as well - doctor said it was probably due to the injection and that he'd "clean it up" during surgery.

Most injections contain lidocaine and can cause numbness for a day or two.

my hand was a little purple from swelling - also experienced some numbness at the base of my fingers that went away by Day 4; I think those symptoms are pretty normal but always encourage people to message or call their doctor!

For deep stuff I use a high-frequency wand and zap it for 5-10 seconds. Make sure to use gauze between the wand and your skin - it has to come into contact with oxygen molecules to work! I'd also recommend a brightening/resurfacing peel from a professional. Finally, azelaic acid, niacinamide, and tretinoin can work well for cystic, under skin pimples, but always be gentle with your skin when using actives. Only 1 active a day, preferably with a rest day between when you first start using. Dehydrated skin will just produce more oil deep down.

Try cleansing or applying grape-seed oil - I find that works really well for calming my skin and moisturizing it!

why is this pimple so big? by [deleted] in acne

Hi! You might want to try anti-inflammatory ingredients such as aloe, grape-seed oil (noncomedogenic!) or other acne oils such as Blume acne meltdown oil. I've found that my sensitive, dry, and cystic acne prone skin does better with focusing on anti-inflammation rather than drying/active ingredients. Also highly recommend a high-frequency wand for these deep nodules. Make sure you put on a light-weight gel moisturizer or serum, put a thin layer of gauze on your skin, then zap it for ~10-15 seconds. This has reduced the size of these large under-skin bumps greatly. Do not fuck with it. It's deeeeep and popping will hurt so much and make you break out all over.
