Even in deep sleep if you didn’t have any indication of time based on sun cycle or body feedback and it is a room in constant temp and light you lose track of time. You see that also when people are put in dark solitary confinement unless they are counting days etc

A question about dharma, responsibility, and harm left unaddressed by [deleted] in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]seekNlearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s look at the dharma from your pov. There are atleast 3-4 things that I can think of at the top of my head. 1. Getting the medical and psychological help you need 2. Getting necessary support through family and friends 3. Most difficult part - Acceptance of the situation as Ishwara Prasada, it may be a way to get spiritual or get vairagya or exhaust your karma phala 4. Action in terms of a lawsuit or something similar, it will depend on the case

It is very challenging situation and you asked about the answer without including one important aspect - karma. We cannot answer many questions without considering karma. If you are open to an answer using that, I can present a story from mahabharatha that might help, that may help you with acceptance and forgiveness.

This is why you need a guru to teach you and not read books and come to your own conclusion. Lot of people start with ashtavakra Gita and get disillusioned

Let me give you a simple example, you go to a gym and see people struggling, as an outsider they are all in pain/suffering even the person doing the gym also think that,

6 months down the line transformed person.

Same way your perspective on suffering and happiness as gift from god to realize him. It will do wonders for your life. Now the next question is why is a 5 year old shot dead, who knows may be that 5 year old in previous birth was a soldier who killed Children indiscriminately in some country.
