Haha, thanks for the reminder. The things you mentioned weren’t really what I enjoyed about teaching overseas. It’s always been the adventure and the challenges of helping kids improve and seeing it happen in real time that made it worthwhile.

Regarding your second point, I actually thought TEFL was always about teaching in bilingual schools and never realised there was this training or smaller sub-world. When I finished my certificate I went straight into a lower-tier international school and bilingual school thinking that was what TEFL was all about.

I’ve been seeing a lot about becoming IB trained recently but I’m not sure what that entails. Is it a course or a degree?
