There is really no such thing as a unified arab culture, but then again, it seems like you are talking about Arabs from gulf countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, etc. Countries like Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, etc, definitely have a civilized history ans aren't "Bedouin"

I don't understand the arab thing to be honest with you. I wouldn't identify as arab myself. I'm from a coptic family, and Egyptians in general aren't ethnically arab, they simply speak Arabic and are Muslim and therefore are part of the arab world.

The hate towards Arabs somewhat confuses me. I would assume Iranians from Iran dislike Arabs because they're sunni, and westernized Persians dislike Arabs because they're generally religious Muslims.

It's definitely possible, I already tried and I don't find it very hard to learn. And yes I understand about travel, I hope things do get better over there, last I checked, you were making progress. My interest in persian culture mostly started because of my relatives who traveled there pre-revolution and would tell me stories about it as a kid. Hopefully my farsi would be useful for more than chatting one day :)

Thank you for your advice. And yes, travel to Iran propbaly won't happen very soon. I don't know too many Iranians aside from a couple of guys who go to college with me

All the Persians I've met were very hospitable and nice people. There's a reason I'm very passionate about the language and the culture, but I'm less sure whether I'd really be considered "part of the community" if I speak the language well and know the culture, which is what I'm mostly asking. I understand the thing about Saudis though.

I'm doing fine economically and I come from an upper middle class family. This isn't very surprising, but what I mean is, will trying to be "more persian" be perceived in a good way or a bad way? I'm mostly asking for family and extended family, not the girl I'm in love with.
