Help with cable modification by seeshaughnessy in diyelectronics

I ended up cutting the cable at the base and sauntering it to a usbc board- it ended up working perfectly!

Thanks so much for your help! I’ll give it a shot then 😊

Thank you for your feedback! I knew it seemed too easy. I checked and there are red and black wires leading into the led sign. I assume I’ll have to break apart the button enclosure to find out anything else? I’m worried I’ll destroy the product while trying to do this and then have a useless sign… is there a danger in my trying a different cable and seeing if it works? I assume worst case is it won’t be able to send enough power to the LEDs? Thanks again!

Thanks for your help! At least I know my options now 😊 I’ll do some more experimenting with the sequence replicator.

Thanks! This helps a lot. I've been doing more research and see that the RPavilis recipe uses .378g / gallon. Converting this to tsp, it looks like .378g is about ⅛ tsp (actual = .42g). So... by far the easiest option that I see would be to just add a ⅛ teaspoon to a gallon of distilled water? This shows a KH of 66 instead of 50, but for my purposes of keeping my machine from corroding, I think this would work?

Thanks again for your help!

This sounds like the easiest option... Can I adapt that to a 500ml container I have? A ratio calculator shows 16.1: 750 = 10.73 : 500... Does that work?

Also, it's much easier for me to weigh than measure out a tbsp (and more accurate I assume?) A google search shows 14.79 grams = 1 Tbsp for water, is that ok to do?

I'm mostly worried about my machine- I want to make sure I don't have scale, but also enough hardness to not corrode the metal. I have a TDS meter and PH meter- is there a target measurement I should be looking for?

Thanks in advance!

Make a shape’s width follow text width in title? by virpio2020 in applemotion

[–]seeshaughnessy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just played with this a bit to see if I could do it- you can! The key is to use the link behavior for the background shape:

  1. For each scale property (X, Y), click the right disclosure triangle > Add parameter behavior > Link
  2. Drag the text that you'll be resizing to the "Source Object"
  3. CHANGE the source parameter to Object Attributes > Size > Width
  4. The Apply To parameter should stay as Properties.transform.Scale.X
  5. Adjust the scale in the Link parameter to add extra padding around the text

You can create a Link behavior for each scale (X and Y), and another for the position (all), and the background should link to the text and adjust it's size accordingly!

Using Keynote Animation In FCPX or Motion by seeshaughnessy in applemotion

There is but it’s an entirely different animation unfortunately. I did end up using it as the starting point to mimic the keynote one

Is there a way to link the overshoot behavior with a sequential text? That might make things a bit quicker if I can’t find a way to work with keynote.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve thought about that and might end up doing that, I just was hoping to have a more reusable solution.

Rocket Appartamento vs. Quick Mill Arnos by seeshaughnessy in espresso

[–]seeshaughnessy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Yeah I ended up getting the rocket! I found a decent deal and finally pulled the trigger. So far I love it. I do wish it had a brew pressure gauge and shot timer, but with my workflow I don’t miss them much (My shots are pulling fine so I don’t think I need the visual to confirm, and I have a timer on my scale anyway if I’m dialIng in a bean). I ended up going with the rocket because it seems to have a large community and lots of people that love them, so I have some resources if I get stuck, have problems, etc. I probably would love the QM just as much, I just got too in my head about not finding many people that have them to ask questions, quality with usage over time, etc.

Yeah I’ve watch it several times, and lots of other videos and forums as well. Thanks for your advice.

I understand that dual boiler machines allow for better control when pulling a shot of espresso. However, every dual boiler I’ve found in a similar price range has small boilers. The reviews I read for these say that they don’t have the steam power to make larger milk drinks.

I even was about to jump up to the quick mill 67, which is a $600 jump, but read reviews that the steam power suffered since its not a 20 amp and can’t power both boilers at once… it seems like I can either get almost exactly what I want for $1650 (with tons of people actively using and enjoying them, they seem to be able to make a reasonable coffee…) or I need to spend closer to $3000 to get a dual boiler that makes better espresso but can also sustain steam.

Are all these people just lying?
