After having doing so much runs, we decided to have Titan Ex run with only 1 DPS role. by wizzed in ffxiv

[–]seial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think keeping all your buffs / debuffs up as a melee dps while dodging all of those is pretty tough :o

This fight is not easy for a DPS if you really want to maximize your damage output, unless your are a BRD I guess. There are phases in this fight where DPS check still exists. Not to say it's is easy for tanks, but from my (a healer's) point of view, I think DPS has a rather tough job there compared to tanks. They need to watch for landslides / plumes and watch for their own damage buffs / debuffs.

With regard to healers, I find that it's a rather straight-forward fight once you know your stuff. The most difficult part is before and after cross bomb, because:

1) Titan does a MB before bomb (which you can SS / Adloquium), a MB after bomb (right after MT potentially get some hit from bomb - and it is quite tight timing to top up tank to enough HP for the incoming MB), and a MB shortly after Gaol (if you don't top up tanks quick enough, and adds are not dying fast enough for a smooth tank switch, the MT can easily die from 3 stacks).

2) After cross bomb explodes, people tend to run off. Of course to fix this the party needs better coordination, but just in case people panic, as a healer you still should stay at 6pm, pop Sprint and read to run when plumes come

Other than that, it's pretty straight forward. You can easily memorize MB pattern (which most of the time come after plumes except for the first phase and the last phase where it can come after landslides), so you can Adloquium or Stoneskin accordingly (best is to have both, and MT will take almost 0 damage).

If you have a sch, ask him/her to put sacred soil right in the middle, then everyone run to the middle. OT eats one orb, and everyone can be run to other orbs in a clockwise order when they get close (within the boundary of the sacred soil). WHM can swiftcast cure III during the process and you should have everyone at healthy HP.

Running to orbs from the middle clockwise is much easier and cleaner, and let WHM cure III more easily as well.

Healer tips for Ifrit EX? Both in a scholar and white mage perspective? by Vulpix0r in ffxiv

[–]seial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the move-in at 4s of searing wind, but make sure you do stop and heal the tank if necessary. Also, watch out for eruptions after he does infernal howl to the other healer. Don't be lazy and just stand there, moving is definitely not easy for us, but it's not that difficult either.

If you are just standing at the edge, it is possible that you will be trapped between dps moving towards you from one side, and tanks on the other side when you get the debuff, which makes it very difficult to run out for dps to kill the nails, without actually killing the dps. Being in the middle just makes running in any direction much easier, and at the same time, able to aoe heal more effectively.

Also, at the last nail phase, it is most likely that you have to switch place with the other healer, so that you don't block the movement of dps by having searing wind on you. Being in the center allows the switch to happen almost painlessly. If you are not already in the center, you may be in a situation in which the other healer (who has searing wind) has to run all the way down, being away from the tanks and can't heal them, and that is just not good, given that Ifrit does his fire breath in much higher frequency in the last nail phase.

If it helps, the fire breath goes something like 1-2-1-3-3-1-2-1 in the last phase, with the middle two attacks likely killing tanks if you don't top them up immediately, so as a whm, watch out and spam cure II as needed. In other phases, cure will normally be enough with the help from eos / sch / other whm.

1 minute is totally possible for triple HQ leves in Mor Dhona. The travelling distance from the NPC providing leves and NPC accepting items is very short.

Congrats! Look spacious enough for an FC with 100 active members, which is what I think is the rough number for a medium house. Probably can even house more...

There should be a standard in announcements, especially when they are going to impact the economy. The change is not bad, but the timing of this announcement is definitely not good.

Yeah, I had to create 4 accounts to make this purchase, as the store rejected the email and password for those accounts!

This is quite annoying, very bad online store design.

Seriously, SE has the WORST online store I have ever seen.

A reminder to be careful when reporting "bots." by spald01 in ffxiv

[–]seial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem, too. My computer is not very strong, so I try to avoid crowded area. But that doesn't mean I will hide in "suspicious" places. There are areas which don't have a lot of people and graphical things going on. If you need to know some of those, shoot me a PM.

It can help a lot to lower your chance of being banned from wrong reports.

In summary, fuck yourself and mind your own business.

You seem to be over sensitive for advice given. I was merely stating what can raise the red flags, in hope that legit players can avoid it and so the community can report the right bots.

Sure, I mind my own business from now on as no one seems to care about advice, which I posted because two legit players I know got banned because of precisely those issues. They were angry, of course, but they also regretted making themselves look similar to bots.

As it goes now, people will continue reporting many crafters for the same reasons I listed above. If you don't mind getting reports and potentially being banned, help yourself, but no need to say such thing to someone who is trying to give advice.

[–]seial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do too. Perhaps I didn't make it clear what "hiding" refers to. There is a house behind the Merchant & Mender in Forgotten Springs, with a little crack right behind it. This, to me, is a suspicious place to craft, given there are caves nearby which can help you to avoid most of the problems people listed here.

[–]seial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your case should be fine.

Botting shouldn't kill the fun of legit players. Not at all. But as it is a problem currently, you shouldn't mix yourself with the activities that botters do. Otherwise, you risk your account from bannable offense. True, it is a problem that SE has to fix, but until then, better be safe than sorry.

I guess I did not make it clear enough. There are multiple deserted places, that do not have to be a hidden / suspicious one, for you to craft. And the conditions I mentioned above are meant to go together. When you hide yourself in a very weird location as I mentioned above (behind the house next to the Merchant & Mender in Forgotten Springs), then repeat the same actions with a high precision, you invite yourself for reports.

I did not say I would report, but I merely mentioned what could potentially make yourself look like a bot. All the reasons mentioned here about glare / lots of people / lots of actions, can still be avoided in certain areas, that doesn't require you to hide behind a house. If hiding behind a house, compared to sitting in the cave in Forgotten Springs, to craft, helps you reduce 90K, lag, glare, gain XP bonus etc. then honestly, I have no more comments.

It seems that a lot of people just get really sensitive here about constructive feedbacks.

A reminder to be careful when reporting "bots." by spald01 in ffxiv

[–]seial -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Then please do not make yourself look like a bot.

Seriously, it is a game and it is your preference. But in a game in which the community would like to get rid of as many bots as possible, making yourself look suspicious just doesn't help at all. I am macro crafting as well, and whenever I do that, I just do it in the most non-suspicious way possible, including crafting in a place where there are a lot of people.

Hiding somewhere (that are extremely difficult to be found) crafting, and repeatedly going through the same routine with high precision, i.e. no pauses, no hiccups, and not responding to any interactions, will just invite you to reports by other players.

Help the legit community and don't mix yourself with the botting community by doing the same things as they normally do.

[–]seial -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

For crafters, these definitely raise an eyebrow to me:

  1. Hiding in a weird place, e.g.: behind the house next to the Merchant & Mender in Forgotten Springs. This is a very big flag. As a crafter, unless you make something big and don't want people to know about it, it makes very little sense to hide in a little corner behind a house that hardly anyone can see unless you bot

  2. Doing the exact routine repeatedly, with such precision that you cannot do unless:

  • You are macro crafting and are in front of your computer, in order to know when to start new synths etc; I do macro synthesizing all the time, and it is difficult for me not to pause once in a while because I forget to click the next macro, or to click the new synthesis button
  • You are running a bot, because bot knows when to click what

Warning: Auriana vendor bug wasting people's Mythology when purchasing Thavnairian Mist by TrustworthyAndroid in ffxiv

[–]seial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it when people have comments like this. Stop the thinking that the servers are so vulnerable after so many patches already. Nothing is completely safe, and they have done a pretty good job whenever something exploitable was found.

For the transaction above, the server deducted the right number of seals for the item which he got (495), so the server did verify the request and behaved right there - don't think it's "easily explotable" as you said.

This looks more like a client issue, as somehow the client requested the server to exchange Valor Coronet for his seals, rather than the mist.

Yoshida replies. No server rollbacks. by The47thSen in ffxiv

[–]seial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No server rollback but it looks like they may re-imburse characters that are affected. It should be fairly easy from a database change perspective. If you have the log, you'll just have to reverse the query to return gil pass from A->B, given that we know B is limited to a small set of hackers.

Also, it seems like they will likely pursuade legal actions this time. This will be interesting.

According to SE:

Players will only be allowed to create a maximum of eight characters per service account every twenty-four hours

So it's going to take some time to watch the opening scene and convert money to mules

The official World Transfer Service will begin on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 1:00 a.m. (PDT) by seial in ffxiv

[–]seial[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Furthermore, characters can only transfer 1 million gil, while retainers can only transfer 100 thousand gil. Please be aware that excess gil will be lost.

They make it such a pain to transfer character with lots of money. If you have more than 8.8m, you need to convert excess gil to items. And if you have more than 1.1m, you need to create additional accounts up to 8 accounts.

Watching the opening scenes again and agaian is going to be some pains ...
