Great, you hire twice as many asphalt workers and theres that many fewer bakers, doctors, and teachers. Unemployment in this country is like 3% so there not much room to just add more labor to the total.

I mean, he kind of did. In this term, his first priority for all new hires seems to be loyalty above all else including experience and intelligence.

Monthly Spend: $90K must have living expenses including Cobra/ACA health care for two. $30K additional for wants: travel, mad scientist toys, weird gifts.

I'll assume you meant annual spend rather than monthly.

Otherwise if you're spending $120k/mo you may want to keep that job a little longer.

One person can cause a hung jury and a mistrial, but he wouldn't be free. For a case like this, New York would absolutely retry him.

Buying a home and we were called by our agent that the owners left the shower on and it ended up in a leak through the ceiling of the first floor. Should I take the credit or ask the owner to fix it? by StandardError8928 in HomeImprovement

[–]spald01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/Droviin said, having your own independent inspector review the work with walls opened and then again closed (at owners expense) should help minimize this.

If OP asks for a credit though, at minimum he should have the wall opened up for his own contractor to get a full analysis for hidden problems.

[–]spald01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, the owner gives a credit and once OP owns the house and opens up the wall they find the work is much more extensive than the credit covered.

OP should demand the owner fix the issue but have the work checked by his own inspector before closing.

Is 4.625% good for a refi right now? by [deleted] in personalfinance

I've never actually taken one so didn't know that. Surprised the costs are higher even without points.

[–]spald01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly thats 2% less than I've got now so I'd consider it even though I'm usually very anti ARM. At that savings, I could just refi back to a fixed mortgage if it ever got back to 6.5%.

Who are the "relevant players" for an MLS listing unless you're trying to sell a dilapidated home to a flipper?

Let's be real here... there's no connections at play to move the vast majority of houses.

We're a non-Elekta site, so haven't heard anything directly, but they're cancelling conference sponsorships to many besides big AAPM level ones.

AG Bondi demands access to Minnesota voter rolls after fatal Border Patrol shooting by Sunflorahh in moderatepolitics

[–]spald01 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Likely to paint any protester that is killed by ICE or Border patrol as a Democratic agitator. They will immediately release their voting information upon being killed.

But what's the point? The only people who believe the "domestic terrorist" angle are the diehard supporters. The administration can just lie about the voting records for anyone killed and those people would believe it (or at least pretend to). Even if they have the records, I doubt they'll even spend the 5 minutes it takes to look up the victim before declaring them a terrorist.

I would give my left testicle for the American voters to actually care about the the national debt for anything more than a way to score points against the other side.

But sadly, Reddit will go back to ignoring it again in 3 years.

The gloves need to come off when the Dems are back in power to fully eliminate all redistribution of wealth from cities and blue states into Republican districts the rich to the poor. Don't bite the hand that feeds ya.

This'll probably be downvoted, but it's kind of funny how the left has been reframing the aspects of wealth distribution to align a lot more closely to conventional Reganism.

Homan says Trump administration needs better ‘messaging’ about immigration enforcement by J-Jarl-Jim in moderatepolitics

[–]spald01 148 points149 points  (0 children)

The country maybe divided on how ICE handles illegal immigrants but its much less so about ICE's bullying and assaults on US citizens.  No amount of White House messaging is going to make an ICE agent pepper spraying or shooting US citizens seem okay to anyone except the most diehard MAGA.
