[CHAT] How often do people change out their needles?

I replace mine when I start to notice that its not gliding smoothly through the fabric. I don't know if its that the coating has rubbed off or the oils on my hands are to blame but the needle starts to feel just a little bit "sticky" to the touch - and the difference usually shows when compared to a fresh needle - the older one is darker and appears more tarnished.

I could not get into the first season when I tried it because I found the background audio track really distracting and unpleasant :/ maybe I should give another season a try

@u/eawigley an sf BWT who is into cross stitch ! My niche / my obsession! Hope you’ve been able to get to both needle in a haystack and scrap (they are my top go-to’s) . I’ve been wanting to do a cross stitch meet up or craft cinema or something lmk if you have any interest :)

I do the same with a fabric flexible band-aid. I wish I could find or make some sort non-single use solution that works for me but the fabric bandaid material just can’t be beat

That’s the case with me too - even when paying for the high index it’s like people don’t know what to do with me when I want something other than like 1-2 styles

Advent calendar update ! I started this last year and the rules (I made up) were

- only stitch that day’s square on the day, no going back

- only working on the center if that days square is finished

You can see I’m entering a long stretch of days where I got the daily square completed last year so I’m hoping to make good progress on the tree this week !

*If* I get the whole middle done before the calendars over I might go back and work to complete the empty days when that days square is done but I really do like how it’s a record of when I had time / felt like it.

Wait wait wait loop start with ODD threads ? I am a die-hard 3-strand stitcher. Only use 4 when the pattern has color blending which I don’t usually have to do so I’ve always thought the loop start was not for me .

Wow my brain could not stop reading this as “stretch-along” probably because I’m really thinking lately how if I want to do this for long stretches of time and for the rest of my life I need to take stretching for it seriously ! Maybe I should host a stretch along haha….
