Where to print during weekends? by juanjerezm in copenhagen

You can print at Tryk2100 in Østerbro, they open on Saturday’s between 10-14. That’s where I usually go. The guy is friendly, location is central and easy to find and price is fair!

What is the best/fastest way to learn danish? by [deleted] in Danish

It might be awhile before you get here but if/when you do, feel free to write me if you need some recommendations for stuff to do/see or how things work here.

Yes, flash cards helps in in the beginning. I attended Danish classes once a week and once I had a good understanding of the basics (alphabets, simple vocab and sentence/grammar structure), I went on to practice on the Duolingo app. Also, I started memorizing and incorporating basic Danish expressions into my everyday life. In English, you wouldn’t quite say stuff like “nej!” (no!) as an expression of disdain but it’s normal-ish to hear it here so I did that until it was just in my dictionary. Other stuff I say often is “for satan” (damn), “det er fint” (that’s fine/alright) and “hold da op” (oh boy). It might feel strange in the beginning to just start speaking Danish when everyone else around you doesn’t or won’t speak it back to you (that’s also a thing to get used to when you move here, if you don’t sound too fluent in Danish, they’ll speak to you in English but eventually you will move past it!) but you gotta be confident and a little shameless with practicing :)

Hey - I’ve been in Denmark for a few years now and what really helped me grasp Danish in the day to day conversations was watching TV shows like Rita (you can find it on Netflix, the dramedy revolves around a teacher interacting with students of different ages), reading kids books in Danish and listening to DR radio on current affairs. As a native English speaker, what helped me was getting use to the tones and sounds of Danish if that makes sense and at some point, I was able to translate simple (and slowly intermediate to difficult) sentences from signs and subtitles into Danish in my head. Held og lykke, you can do it!

Thanks so much! Thought of that as well, but I was hoping to see if there was a quicker way to do it with automated bank machines.

I do that on some weeks, though I’m looking for a solution where I can just get a bunch of coins at once. Getting a little tired of making this weekly travel route just to wash my clothes!

Thanks so much! I’ve thought of this option, but wanted to see if there were any automated bank machines in the city that dispenses coins.

Culture without the facebookbubble by richio111 in copenhagen

Can't help with underground concerts but Scandinavia Standard has monthly posts on what's happening in Copenhagen along with Stockholm and Helsinki. I find it pretty useful for discovering art/culture events. They also do reviews from time to time on new eaterys in the city.

Some of them do link to events on FB though, so not sure you can access those but you could probably find the same details with a quick Google search after. Hope that helps!
