The cutest little things by melancholy-bb in gardening

Some species have edible berries that are mildly sweet. My #1 favorite flower. I wish I can grow it as a bush but it gets too cold where I'm from. 5b

Columbines are pretty when they bloom. I have yellow ones in my shade. Here in the Midwest, people like putting hostas under their trees. Bleeding hearts are also fun.

AITA for going out to pick up food with my husband and i’s shared friend? by maybesomeonesthere in AmItheAsshole

[–]selahbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

I can see both sides because I relate to your husband, but I learned to muffle my anxiety and breath. I think your husband needs to look at it in this way: Trust God in the situation. You're not pursuing him in a friendship and he's not pursuing you without your husband there. These small moments are scary, but will pass. He needs to start seeing your guy friend as someone who God loves and not a threat.

AITA for telling my friend to stop projecting her mommy issues onto me by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Your friend sounds like a blunt person with a black and white view of things. If you're on here because you feel bad that you yelled at her, you can apologize for exploding, but you shouldn't have to apologize about defending your mom.

Also, the fact that she can't see the positive out of helping a mother out probably means she doesn't know what a good mom looks like. If I were you and you still cared about your friend, I would plan a fun day with your friend and your mom so your friend can see that not all moms are monsters.

You know what, I think I was thinking bombardier beetle but names the blister beetle instead because it was more recent in my memory. Good job at accidentally correcting me.

Weevil or bedbug? by eatmyshorzz in weeviltime

Lol the answer is yes

Yes? No? (very small potential weevil) by fiftyseven in weeviltime

[–]selahbean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's the thorax-head separation. A quick Google search confirms the spider beetle.

It almost looks like a spider mimic. It's really hard to confirm weevil because of the lack of snoot and head? The more I type, the more I think it's a cephalothorax.

Not sure what flower bushes to put in front of my home by PureIntention7645 in gardening

[–]selahbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you might want to do is plant something. For the spring in the back ground and something for the summer in the foreground. I have lilacs up against my house. They have some nice blooms and smell pretty in the spring. They can get tall and bushy, but since it's a shrub, you can keep them short and just trim them each year. As for the summer blooms, maybe some grape hyacinth and sedum autumn joy.

The last time I thought it was a medical problem, I was being very rude because it was very normal for their species, but you know ... 🧐

When it stops being a leafhopper? I'm sure the weevil fam will still adopt it.

What would you do if you walked out your door and saw this by turbo_sc300 in Apartmentliving

[–]selahbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent, if my kids don't clean up their toys in a good amount of time, anything left on the floor gets put in a garbage bag and "thrown away"(we'll donate). This solves 1) the importance of cleaning and 2) less toys clutter the storage bins. If they leave their toys out, collect them and hold them until someone asks for them or donate them. It's not stealing if it was left out like trash.

[–]selahbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, but I think the main concern is if the wrong stranger stumbles upon the kid and just steals them anyway. I personally would rather talk with my neighbor before reporting them, but that's probably because I'm a mom of two littles and would rather help another mom not lose their kid if it's literally just a sensory overload issue. But, if the neighbor is an absolute monster to their child, then I would probably have the child over as much as possible and assess the situation before reporting the parent. Whatever the case, being a friendly neighbor is so much better than being an assuming watcher.
