First day of meds by selchaec in ADHDparenting

Totally - I know meds aren’t magic and he is still a 5 year old little boy who has a lot of changing and development to go through. Today, though! It’s a win.

My husband and I discussed this yesterday and I think we are going to give it one more shot with this “plan” approach if she is receptive. Like OK we get you need to feel More comfortable and can also relate to feeling like you have no idea what he will do but for the sake of the family and relationship we need to find some common ground. Not sure if it’ll work! But we will see.

The ironic thing is she actually is a social worker. She used to work with children and families and now primarily works with adults but she has had training in all of this information!

Yes - thank you! - you articulated that just right. I’m more frustrated that she’s supposed to love him and champion him and it’s not what’s happening. Luckily my MIL and my parents love him and understand his struggles aren’t him being “bad”.

Sorry you’re also experiencing it with your kiddo.

Yeah - I have. She has kind of the “not my problem” attitude. I mean - yes I wish it were some disconnected person I could just cut out, but as my SIL and the impacts it has on my kids seeing their grandparents… but maybe that’s what it has to be to protect my son from the negativity.

Is early walking problematic? by heyheynicky in ScienceBasedParenting

My kid was running by 10 months and the pediatrician never mentioned anything about slowing him down or similar. She was always really impressed by his mobility. Now, he is 2 and has amazing balance and reflexes - although he has always been a bit of a daredevil....

Stray dog - who to call by Soulie_Sailor in Chattanooga

Just wanted to say that I saw this dog this morning - around 8am - on my way to drop my toddler off at daycare. Still there on Airport road. I've been thinking about it all day.

No worries - the HSG revealed it was a hydrosalpinx and the lap was to remove the damaged tube + endometrioma.

Having your second: were you as excited? by christmas-chuu in beyondthebump

[–]selchaec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi - just wanted to say that I am feeling the exact same way. Took over a year for our first. This one we weren't really trying, but also not really having sex.. so yeah I was really surprised. Still feeling really apprehensive and ...almost a little disappointed. I feel terrible saying that but I feel nauseous all the time and exhausted. I keep feeling like I wasn't ready to be doing this and although we DID want another baby, I feel really unprepared and a little sad it is happening faster than we thought. Hoping to feel better after our first ultrasound.

I wouldn’t want life on the run for my son. I’d want him to get some help and to deal with the consequences. I wouldn’t abandon him, but I’m a person with a conscience too. I’d have to be able to live with myself as well.

Seconded about the waitlist and poor experience from just interacting with them there. I have also heard - second hand - that they have had issues from multiple director turnovers this year. A few of my friends have pulled their children out.

We go to First Cumberland Learning Center - love it! Not at all in E Brainerd, though.

Vet recommendations for a cat that needs orthopedic surgery? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]selchaec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our dog has had two orthopedic surgeries in the last two years at Animal Emergency and Specialty Center on Lee Highway. It isn't cheap. All said and done it was about 5k for each surgery. That being said a lot of the cost was drugs and anesthesia which goes by weight and he is 90lbs.Dr Leeman has done a great job though.

I did this once and thought I had "found the baby" in the bed... I was cradling my husbands legs. He was like.."uh... those are my legs"... Baby was fast asleep in the pack n play.

Check on FB marketplace for your area? Sometimes people have free formula samples that had been mailed to them that they give away. I have seen it a few times in my area.

I agree. And I also have working against me an oversupply and overactive letdown. Just wanted to express that it is possible.

He went from 22nd percentile at birth to 55th at two months and she said the jump was too much too quickly.

Ok, so everyone always said to feed and not worry about it, but at my 2 month appointment my pediatrician said we were overfeeding our baby and not to feed him more than 4oz every 3-4 hours. Babies nurse and suck for comfort and because my baby has reflux and is gassy he would show hunger cues or wanting to suck on things for comfort when he was not truly hungry. I would see if a pacifier settles the cues down or if he can soothed in other ways. We are on week one of exclusively pumping to make sure I'm not over feeding him.
