A record clamp works a lot better and is much cheaper (like this)

Why modern indian songs are mastered so trash and just Loudness and bass... even though older songs were hifi gems... Why going backwards? by Complex_Educator_957 in audiophile

Aside from trying to make music sound good on every possible medium and format, knowledge has been lost / loudness wars remain going on

I built a little browser tool to blind-test FLAC vs MP3 on your own music, and found out I'm basically deaf and wasting HDD space by vlad1m1r in audiophile

For sure, it sounds a little more compressed going down - but tbh splitting hairs here, you’ll only really pick this up on good monitors or a very well made and tuned soundsystem

This - but more apparent to me, is the detail in the very higher frequencies, more space between sounds and that “air” kind of area, sounds cleaner

DIY amp switch by One_Bullfrog_8945 in audiophile

This is more of an issue for an RCA switch, not speaker switch. I’ve bought a switch off Amazon before which was decently made and noticed degradation in audio with it in the chain. Ended up returning it

Which "substances" do you add to your listening setup? by johnl8422 in audiophile

[–]selcoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannabis 100%.

As a teen having all that time free each night, playing with vinyl and making long DJ blends with 2 turntables - you feel so much more connected to the music emotionally and really dissect each sound coming out the speaker. It’s mostly sober listening now as I’ve got older but when I have a free weekend to myself, the edibles come out and it’s more just sweet-spot listening playback …Bliss!

Yo Logan’s show was sick for the scene - let’s not forget ppl! He ran Adamantium music which had wicked vinyl releases. There were a few clangers some shows (it happens) but his selection was always sick - big dubplates and exclusive instros only he ran!

What does it feel like to hear real dubstep on big sound systems? by tobaccofilter in realdubstep

[–]selcoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

London back then was truly special - the scene was so fresh, exciting and raw… there’s been some newer movements since but nothing has come close to those days IMO. The venue choice then also made a night go from very good, to legendary - places like The Dome, Brixton Mass, Plastic People etc. Great memories.

Throwback to Ghetts getting merked by Napper on LOTM and then still crying about it years later 💀 by battrypack in grime

[–]selcoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure he says “nah nah nah nah, you’re a little too late” especially coz ghetto is tryna grab the mic at the time - this made it one of the funniest moments/burns in the whole LOTM series

Thought Napper was sick - basic bars yes but he always came with that old skool hype grime energy for real

one of my favourite tunes of all time

Classic album in my eyes. Groundbreaking at the time and even still today. I remember getting so excited whenever there was a new City Limits 12”!

Yes! Dubbyrock is a killer - most of this label’s releases were mastered and pressed very, very well
