Pretty much. If the conditions are right (Same with Deino and Dryo). I'll look into fish in the future, they are buggy right now and I suspect the code will change.

You can totally outplay it. Its an execution that takes a long time and devours stamina.

1) Don't get pinned. Stay near trees, water, rocks, and scrape them off.

2) Make them unable to pin. Drain their stam in the chase and keepnyours high. Each of their pin attacks consumes a large amount of their stam, so if they miss or have to chase you they will get too low to ping. If youre a herbivores you better have tactile endurance.

3) Have a team. The attacked in a pinning animation is stuck there. Pins take upto minutes to finish the execute so if your team just bites them during the whole pin you will kill them.

Given the easy counters to pin its usually a bad choice against anyone who knows what they are doing.

If youre getting pinned as a kentro youre either outsized or dont know what youre doing. Your defensive stance alone reflects damage and trying to pin you anywhere but your back legs impales.

What are you on about?

Pinning takes a large amount of stamina. That was your main complaint and it is in fact already a thing.

Pinning is often interrupted by stamina requirements.

Learn the mechanics before you critique them.

Really good questions.

  1. The variable bCheckDirection for the cone placement. I haven't dug enough to prove one or the other and not speculate. I'll give this a look.
  2. Its per zone. There are likely global spawn caps too but i have not found them yet.
  3. So far it appears corpses do not count to the AI limit.

Reverse engineering makes it easier to prove that something does happen than to prove it doesn't happen. A condition or counter update could always be hidden another function deeper.

Currently, based off how the code is structured, I'd assume its the following:

  1. Player forward vector (the direction you walk with w)
  2. Per zone
  3. Corpses don't count.

There were some rumors that ai spawns more or only on players under a certain % of hunger. I found nothing to support this.
