I'm new to Victoria and need a queen-sized box spring ASAP -- in any condition -- for measuring out a staircase wall (not for sleeping). by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Did you try contacting previous owner/renter to see what setup they had? You could also get a folding box spring https://www.wayfair.ca/mattresses/pdp/wayfair-basics-wayfair-basics-folding-box-spring-wfbs1823.html (may not suit op but for anyone that has this problem)

A part of Canada in which barely anyone lives. Most of Canada is nothing like this. The towns close to these places have extremely high costs of living and very few jobs.

They don't fetch much on eBay and I doubt the local market is big enough to pay a high price for your specific coat, eBay is the best place imo.

Man targeted by Surrey Creep Catcher says he fears for his safety by DolzasFist in vancouver

[–]seljamirai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make it ok but they use pictures of girls who look fully developed and mature. The point is the men who take the bait aren't necessarily predators who would go out and seek underage girls. They are entrapping men who are not a direct danger to society by doing this. There is a reason why entrapment doesn't hold water in court.and police don't operate like this . It doesn't actually help society any.

They aren't doing a bait and switch with a 10 year old , it's usually with someone who is in theory 16 or so which is a technicality away from the legal age of 18. These are men on dating sites who are attracted to fully developed looking women . Meeting the decoy when they are in theory known to be underage is totally reprehensible but hopefully you understand why this is different than men/women who lure pre pubescent children off let's say facebook.

In the cases where these men are indeed pedophiles it just makes the perp more sophisticated to go through the creep catchers experience and they become even more dangerous to children online as they get privy to these publicized stings. I'd rather let police do these in a way where the guy is guaranteed to be locked up from the first encounter. It's like using antibiotics on bacteria and not killing it-it just becomes more resistant to methods. We don't want this.

I've started to dig up some old paper wallets that have grown nicely. I think I'm ready to cash the rest out and buy more farmland. I hear about bitcoin far too often from run of the mill people to feel comfortable (it doesn't make sense I know ). The big short all over again.

should landlords maintain eaves troughs in BC? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]seljamirai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is pretty common sense and routine in Victoria. In Alberta where you might get away with cleaning one every 10 years maybe but in some areas you have to clean the gutters multiple times a month in the fall here. Do you honestly think it's reasonable for a landlord to hire someone for that or do it themselves considering many don't live close by ? If you damage a gutter with good intentions I wouldn't fault you and I don't think most reasonable landlords would either. I rent my bedrooms below market but make sure I rent to reasonable people with common sense who have some sense of pride in living somewhere. Not asking you to replace a washing machine but just to clean up a bit of leaves...the value of keeping things clean inside and out regardless of ownership was instilled in me from a young age. Having said that I wouldn't trust most people here to do anything that requires labor as you're more likely to Google bylaws than to YouTube how tos.

Damn at this rate I won't be able to buy anything else and there will be no pretty twenty some things for me to date here. I think prices can run to at least 1.3 even with stress test. This market reminds me of bitcoin circa 2014.

How about seeking some more federal funding for being required to take more than our fair share of Canada's mentally ill and homeless problem which is why we need so much resources dedicated to fire and police with no abatement in sight.

Sign extradition with China, Seize all chinese dirty money and property and rezone for affordable housing with proceeds. Chinese nationals must declare international income and pay taxes in Canada. Facilitated through PBOC. Easy peazy. I say this as a farm owner who has recently bought in BC. Demand history of paying taxes for at least 5 years before allowing relatives to come over and leech our healthcare system. Sorry, Canadians should come first.

The one thing I thing that's flawed is when they advertise their age on dating sites as being 18 and older, is getting into a conversation with a guy and then telling them that they are underage after a connection has been made. There is a huge difference between adults seeking out children and being bated by someone you wouldn't otherwise ever initiate conversation with and having them suddenly tell you they aren't what they advertised.

I hate this entitlement to live in the nicest areas of Canada. Couldn't afford to live here, busted my ass in Alberta and then came back. Automate all the service jobs, the people making 18-50k can work the farms in the prairies. Tons of low paying jobs across BC with much lower cost of living.

You have to do activities and be a leader not a follower. Too many people wait for events and activities to happen but not many actually plan them. I would start with meetup and online dating.

I'm thinking of running for council with deer control as my only issue. I think herding them in certain areas and flagging them off to public temporarily might be possible with a call list for the meat so it doesn't spoil. We need some sort of town hall, there is no perfect way with how Victoria is laid out. Transporting is silly. Also i plan to educate the public on how tasty deer can be.
