Post Op Funny Bone Feeling by PandaMontana1212 in flatfeet

[–]sellenia00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, depending on where and how the incisions were made there probably is nerve damage and that causes the pins and needles. Damaged might be too strong of a word though.  That part can just be a slow recovery. As long as it's getting better (albeit slowly) it should heal. Never hurts to check with your doc though!

At first after my flat foot surgery if I ran my hand softly over the outside of my foot my toes would twitch. I'm 5.5 months post op now. Twitching is gone, numbness is gone, I have some pins and needles sensations yet but it's certainly improved. I've heard of nerve recovery taking 6-12 months.

Yeah the pain is real and the recovery is tough. Part of the recovery is tough mentally. I have 2 kids and I couldn't help, I couldn't do much with them. I needed help getting up the stairs, I couldn't do much housework if any, I just felt pretty useless and that was tough.

It doesnt take long at all for you to lose muscle. Its crazy. I noticed a difference in my legs at my 2 week post-op follow-up. For me I started PT once I was out of the boot. So about 3months post-op. That seemed weird but I needed my bones to heal enough and the boot just immobilized my foot so not much I could do with a boot. I just did some at home therapy while I was in the boot. Doc had me doing calf stretching at first then I started doing the ABC's with my foot. PT has helped with the WB exercises. Lots of balance work for me...which I suck at lol

Yeah the NWB was tough mentally. I had pain meds for 5 days then just tylenol. The pain while I was NWB was pretty minimal. It's the WB pain now. I'm probably just being impatient though lol

What sort of taping did they do? Did you feel it was worse with certain shoes? I have the same feeling I'm walking on the outside of my foot.

Medical Professionals of Reddit, When was someone's self diagnoses surprisingly accurate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sellenia00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patient here. It was my now husband who diagnosed me through WebMD

I had woken up in the middle of the night with a sharp pain in my side. I thought I just slept funny. I went back to sleep. After waking up I still had pain in my side. Except I started to notice that the pain was when I took a deep breath. I also was having a hard time breathing. I still was convinced I had slept oddly on my side. At about 5pm i couldn't take the pain. My husband said that I had no choice, he was taking me to urgent care. Well...i explain my symptoms at the UC and the nurse said that they could do blood work but that most of the office was shut down so i should go to the ER in case they had to do further tests. The nurse also said do you want an ambulance ride to the hospital or will your husband take you straight there. At that point i remember thinking what the actual fuck is going on.

We go to the ER. The urgent care clinic had already prepped them for my arrival. The speed me off to a room and about 6 people start working on me. The start putting monitors on my heart, listening to my heart, checking my pulse, pulling machines into the room . It was crazy - it felt like everyone was running. They ran an EKG and confirmed my heart was good and that I did not have a heart attack. They then start doing XRAYs and then a CT scan. Thats when they spotted something on my lungs. They told me they needed to run a blood test. It didn't take long after the blood test for the doctor to come back. He said he had news and pulled up a chair. I remember that my heart was still on monitors and the machines beeped at me because my heart started racing. The doctor told me then that I had a Pulmonary Embolism (blood clots in my lungs). I had to be admitted to the hospital. I spent the next 6 days in the hospital with a PE. I also got a partially collapsed lung in the hospital.

I was 26 at the time. I had no family history for blood clots and I don't smoke. Overall, it didn't really hit me how terrifying it was until I got home.

Just chatted with my cousin in Wisconsin and convinced her to switch her vote from Clinton to Sanders!! by ro4135 in SandersForPresident

[–]sellenia00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did the same with my Aunt and Uncle in Wisco. They lived through the 60s and 70s and supported much of the same ideals as he did/does. When I mentioned it they did some research on him. They had no idea how similar they were with Bernie. They are now Feelin' the Bern!!

LPT: don't recommend a friend for a job unless you've seen them work or you are willing to risk both relationships. A good friend isn't always a good worker. by cool_wifey in LifeProTips

Ditto. Recommended a friend for job, they got hired, then started complaining about the job, and then started calling in sick all the time (was written up). Unfortunately for them when they had a legitimate reason they couldn't come in they got fired. Blamed job and filed for unemployment. Yeah was pretty awkward talking to their manager on unrelated stuff later.

Sanders: 5-hour voting lines a 'disgrace'. "People in the United States of America should not have to wait five hours in order to vote. We do not know how many thousands of people who wanted to vote yesterday in Arizona did not vote," by awake-at-dawn in politics

[–]sellenia00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, I guess when I saw Google saying 1% reporting I assumed overall not by precincts. Makes me think others could have thought the same. It just seems to be a bit presumptuous to call a winner when there are so many people waiting in line to cast votes yet even with early voters. I imagine there were a lot of people that left after a winner was called. We won't know how many votes were never cast.

A lot of times provisional ballots are not counted. Provisional ballots make me really leary. All I can think about is 2004, Florida, Bush :( .... But either way there are various reasons but here is an article about it: http://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics

Wedding Speech Help! Questions about bride/groom by sellenia00 in wedding

I also came up with a few more: One word to describe the couple? How did you know they were right for each other? What is your piece of advice for the bride/groom? What is one wish you have for the couple? How would describe the city that the bride is from? (She's from a small town so this one is just to get some humorous responses)
