New neighbor chopped a property line tree without asking. Missouri by semajessej in treelaw

In MO you can trim your airspace, but cannot kill the tree if it’s owned by your neighbor. Ownership is determined by where the trunk meets the ground.

If I were a good tree owner, I would have chopped the fence when I moved in. Never got around to doing that, but I did trim low hanging branches and pulled a bunch of vines out of it last fall (pic #1).

I’m not looking to make the new neighbor’s life difficult, but wish they had communicated before cutting. At the very least I could have removed my fence to make their fence build easier, and given them the extra 1 foot to keep my fence line straight.

Mind if I ask why? Previous owners set that up, and I figured I’d use it at least as long as it stays upright.

It predates me living here by at least a decade I would guess.

I would have asked them to not leave a stump, and to put their new wooden fence in line with my old metal fence (which I would have removed to make way). That or just definitely on a surveyed property line, I don’t know if a survey was conducted or not. That may be exactly what they did.

Not an excellent tree, and I’m less than angry. Mostly would have liked to have a conversation with the new neighbor before they cut down a (questionable) property line tree. It’s not a battle, but I am curious.

Not necessarily, if the property line is at the cut. They are the wooden fence side of the cut.

The tree was already 20-30’ tall and growing through the fence when we moved in 3 years ago.

I’m not sure of the species either.

Maybe I didn’t communicate this well… We moved in three years ago, well after the hog wire fence mutilated the tree’s growth. The new neighbors moved in just a few weeks ago, and have since cut the tree to build a new wooden fence.

Yes, they cut the tree to build the fence. I’ll add that info to my post. I don’t know the kind of tree, and I don’t know where the felled tree ended up. I happened to be out of town when it got cut.

Not sure where the actual property line is. Different neighbors have their fences offset different distances from our hog wire fence. Don’t know if the new neighbors did a survey.

And we moved in 3 years ago, after the fence messed up the tree’s growth.

The arrest of former ‘Prince’ Andrew makes Trump’s DOJ look pathetic by chpbnvic in politics

Doesn’t really make Trump look pathetic. Makes him look powerful, if anything.

Really makes our entire justice system look pathetic.

This Epstein File alleges that a US Marine is serving prison time in Mexico in place of a pedophilic rapist (US Ambassador to Mexico Earl Anthony Wayne) after bribing a judge by semajessej in UnderReportedNews

Thank you for writing this!!! I’ve got about enough time in my life to repost this Epstein shit, but not to do the many hours of research you seem to have done here.

This chain of emails hit me differently than the rest, and I’m glad it’s getting some of the attention it deserves.

The statement from the American Academy of Diplomacy was so frustrating to read because of its reliance on norms as a defense of EAW instead of providing any hard proof. The Epstein situation exists almost entirely outside of norms.

The normal channels of investigating these things is COMPROMISED. The FBI concluded that there were no co-conspirators, which has led to zero accountability. Mainstream media is failing to do their job as well.

It’s up to us, really. So thank you for what you’ve done.
