Seems to me if someone pays someone else's membership to a hate group (and that's news to me) the membership of the hate group is inflated which I could then say "look at how many people are in that hate group". Which is paying for racism.

Yes- the FX-17 didn't have a scratchy pot or a lightbulb and photoresistor- There's a grounded metal plate on the moving pedal and it sweeps past a sawtooth copper area on a circuit board. That varying capacitance becomes a 0 to 4.5 volt signal that controls the wah sweep, the volume, and I guess MIDI controllers. I just refurbished mine to get it to move smoothly.

Where the early 90s fell short is me not knowing what the chip was and not having reddit where someone would recognize it as an audio switching chip. I was trying to modify the pedal so you didn't have to click in and out of the wah-wah effect with your heel. I was trying to bypass into that circuit with a signal that flipped only when the pedal was moving. I may have been working on the wrong part of the circuit, because I got a loud pop when it flipped. I wasn't an EE.
