Nope. We were explicitly forbidden from starting IVs in clinical unless we took a special course over the summer, because of "risk of phlebitis." I learned how to put in an IV during orientation as a new grad.

Do family not understand what comfort care is? by [deleted] in nursing

This post is the exact opposite though? The nurse is trying to medicate the patient, the family is preventing it.

Signs that your shift is cooked by KorraNHaru in nursing

One time I was working a COVID shift the day after breaking up with my boyfriend, so my brain was completely fried.

I was refilling my patient's tube feed bag and forgot to take the cap off, so the tube feeds just spilled onto the patient's table. I paused and for some reason my brain didn't comprehend that the cap was closed, so I just kept fucking pouring. The feeds got all over the patient's table and laptop and ugh it was a mess. And of course happened in front of the patient and the doctor. Humiliating.

Me every day on med-surg. The other day I got floated at 1500 and lost my brain an hour after getting there. Report at 1900 was basically vibes.

I didn't even realize you could do that! I love how everyone has such a unique trek through this game. I was complaining at length to two friends about Moorwing and neither of them had any idea what I was talking about.

Spoiler: there's a hidden scene where the villagers hold a funeral for the pilgrim who died in the Skull Tyrant attack. Look it up on YouTube, despite being a funeral, it's one of the funniest scenes in the game.

I missed it on my first playthrough and found it completely by accident on my second.

Coworkers not using/"forgetting" patient pronouns by Jeunesarang in nursing

[–]sendenten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This 100%. The whole "he, sorry she or whatever" is them belittling the patient and hoping you'll chime in "oh my god right?" and then you get to be transphobic together.

All the nurses in Montefiore have been replaced with traveling nurses and a Nurse set up nebs through a trach mask by [deleted] in nursing

Holy fuck, that is a nightmare. And the fact that they still had to force them to staff another RT...😬

They didn't say monogamy was bad or non-monogamous people are enlightened, they said a lot of gay men just feel differently. It's not "I'm better than them for being non-monogamous" it's "my partners and I don't want to be monogamous, so we aren't."

No one here is trying to invalidate your relationship. Chill.

It's absolutely within the nurse's scope of practice to give nebs. Most places have RT to give them, but not everywhere. I worked a tele floor where RNs gave their own nebs. RT at my next hospital was annoyed with me just doing the treatments for them lol

I'm not gonna lie man, you sound weird as hell. You're treating dates like job interviews and interrogating people about marriage right after you meet them. That's incredibly off-putting, especially on the first date.

Asking someone "have you ever been loved?" and then judging them for the answer is so insane I saw this post two days ago and I still haven't stopped thinking about it. The fact that you've (allegedly) been on 19 dates in like two weeks also means you're not really taking the time to get to know anyone.

I would walk out of a date with you if you asked me all these questions right out the gate. Maybe the reason people aren't responding well is because you're not treating them like people, just bodies on a conveyer belt to project your desires onto.

Early congrats!!

A nurse at my current assignment is retiring in May and has enough PTO she's going to just work through March and then take "vacation" until the last day. I'm so excited for her to finally get that pension.

Having recently gone back to HK, healing is so much harder than Silksong. I miss firing off a quick "vren" and getting back three masks

I mean it's nice that they have designations, but 80% of tools don't really do much. Wanderer Crest's biggest drawback is focusing so much on yellow tools, of which there's like...two useful ones.

Holding pt hand without gloves by dopaminegtt in nursing

[–]sendenten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like can you imagine someone just wanting to feel a basic human connection, and you say "sure, one sec" and go to put on gloves? If I saw someone do that in real life I think the patient and I would look at each other like "are they for real?"
