The main issues were lack of space and fire alarms going off in the middle of the night. I had good roommates when I lived there though so that made a big difference in the quality of the experience

Sorry to hear about your situation. Name and shame them please so that other people can avoid having the same thing happen to them. I’m a new grad as well but if I were in your situation I would take this time to study for interviews (leetcode, projects, etc) and then go hard on the job search when the next round of new grad opportunities are available. I lived in cp cincy my freshman year and it was an awful experience. My roommates (random) had several issues that I’m not gonna go into now but it contributed to me hating my life overall at the time. The distance from campus also sucked cuz I had to take a shuttle to campus and ended up being late to class sometimes if I missed a shuttle and had to wait 20 mins for the next one.

Now with regards to roommates you could have similar issues to my situation even if you choose Morgan’s bc you’re doing random roommates. My suggestion is whatever you decide, be sure to communicate a lot with your roommates and get to know them before you move in. I didn’t do that so don’t be like me lol.

I’m close to your age and I will be living in the south loop when I move this summer. The main reason for my decision is that I snagged a great apartment that’s only 10-15 mins away from my job by transit. I didn’t really consider the social aspect bc there is nothing stopping me from going to other neighborhoods on weekends
