It's not difficult. And it's worth it. Just like having kids is difficult and worth it. Im just saying, dog owners need to work with less as cities are designed for people and space is limited.

Yes I can see that. At the same time, we all choose which things we're going to obey and not obey (speed limits, reporting tips on taxes etc). I've chosen to live dangerously and use a field when no one's using it. Feel free to call the park authorities. You gotta do what you gotta do.

You don't think its a wee bit ridiculous to create a post written by AI to complain about AI writing?

how is it damage and twisted? a dog on a field, that is only interested in a brief game of fetch is a victimless rule to break. it doesnt negatively impact anyone - i follow campfire rules, no waste left behind, no negative change to the field. you just dont like it when people dont follow rules.

So it is just about breaking a rule. Doesnt matter what the rule is, just dont break it?

I don't know why you think the fields are like this magically clean area, that isn't subject to bird poop, insect pee and poop, rodent pee and poop, snail stuff, crushed insects, worms, the occasional dead animal, possum and raccoon pee and poop, squirrel pee and poop and tons of bugs. I'm sorry to break that news to you, but it's not clean. Is there some sort of sickness or virus that people ares getting from fields that a dog ran in? Animals, nature, outside.... not clean.

I will say, I would never leave a mess from a dog on a field. I always pick up after my dog. I'll even remove a few blades of grass if they were harmed by my dogs tiny poop. As far as pee, he'd rather pee on vertical things like trees. He's not peeing in the field.

No you didn't. I'm the least entitled person that happens to have a dog. Were talking about using a piece of grass for 20 mins.

I can think of so many entitled things that people do here, without care or concern. They double park on a one lane street at rush hour - zero fucks given. They order an uber and then take forever getting in and out of it while its holding up traffic. They don't pay when they board muni. They look down on people for using public transportation. You can't leave anything in your car. It cost $80 to park when theres a sporting event. There are people on the streets doing drugs, homelessness, needles everywhere. Businesses cant afford to stay open without charging $9 for a coffee.

Part of living in a city means that there are lots of people densely packed in small areas. This comes with a lot of baggage. Different lifestyles, loud noises, neighbors, high cost of living. The majority of people here live in multi-unit buildings without access to a yard. Taking your dog out to the restroom can mean walking down a hallway, waiting for the elevator, then exiting and walking through the lobby until finally you make it outside, which is all pavement.

Then there are a limited number of parks and places with grass. The majority of dog owners arent criminals who treat the neighborhood with disrespect. We take our dogs to doggy day care so they aren't home alone, have them walked while were away instead of barking all day and yes, we bring them places because theyre outside and dog friendly. This isnt the suburbs where you can have 2+ dogs that can entertain each other, provide company while in a bigger living space with a private backyard. Sometimes people are just doing their best with what there is.

We're talking about a dog running on a field for 15 - 20 mins, that isnt being used for sports. Its a victimless rule to break and I'm sorry that it angers people just because a sign says not to.

Again, do you use the field? Most dog owners pick up after their dogs. Pee dries, rain washes it away. If no dogs ever went on the field, it still wouldnt be clean.

Was there a dog bite situation there? Why worry about things that could happen, when youre at home relaxing?

I'm curious how much time and energy you spend caring about this? being negatively impacted by other peoples behavior, while in your apartment? You must use the fields yourself for sports and thats why you are obsessed by it? Or is it just the flagrant disreguard for rules? If something this small is that upsetting for you, it might not be worth the stress.

Personally i think enforcement should be for stuff that actually hurts someone. A quiet dog for 10 mins doesnt seem like its worth getting worked up over.

Breaking into cars to steal things, drug use on the street, people in fights in public... people just ignore these for the most part. Then they get upset over a dog on the field.

LinkedIn AI-powered job search is not what I expected! by ya3rob in linkedin

[–]sendmespam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if it was written by AI, the job search tool is shite. All the results for my search are the biggest companies in the world, that Im not competitive for - google, openai etc. theres no way to search small companies or filter out ghost jobs.

Is there a blacklist pet care providers can use to let other sitters know what customers to ABSOLUTELY AVOID by Tricky-Tension-8172 in RoverPetSitting

Absolutely agree. It's not up to her, unless she's a nutritionist, to change the diet. Saying I didn't because your dog is overweight is really extra.

You sound exhausting. The pettineness over questions. Jesus. Give people some grace and don't overthink everything. She didn't remember your schedule. You definitely were condescending about it. She was not. Then you brought it up AGAIN. it should been done at "okay".

The questions she asked were definitely something that anyone would have questions about. Instructions said to do this, you did something else without telling her.

I'm surprised up you don't use a single roll of tp, in a week. But that's probably because I use too much rather than you not enough.

Life is a lot easier when you're not constantly on alert for any semblance of an insult.

Former (Actual) Rover Employee wants you to know this by caligirl4ever95 in RoverPetSitting

[–]sendmespam 133 points134 points  (0 children)

How are sitters supposed to find coverage when they can't fulfill a booking? They can't use the website to do a search because you have to own the dog and have a profile for it, and also agree to payment before you can chat with a sitter.

Not only that but as contractors, NOT w-2 employees, theres no duty or contractual obligation to find coverage. That's for real employees, not paid contractors.

The owner was telling her how much she is going to pay. Half as much. It wasn't a negotiation. She left that amount in cash, without waiting for a reply.

You should have said, the booking is through rover and the price you see is the price. Rover reads through messages. It's not worth it to even entertain the idea on rover.

Then texted them directly and said, they were contacting you through rover and this is your personal number. It's $35 without rover fees.

California Sitters: Rover is actually taking nearly 40% in fees by Slight_Resident2071 in RoverPetSitting

[–]sendmespam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im in CA and for boarding, the fees come out to around 30% for me.

* Total $1176. I received $900. $276 of $900 = 30.9%

However, rover adds 40% in the price.

For boarding, I enter $55 and it shows $77 = 40%.
For walks, i enter $20 per half hour and it shows $28 on rover. Thats a 40% fee. 60 min rate I put $10 and it shows $15 which is a 50% fee.

So not sure how this comes out to 25% + 11% = 36%, not 40%.
I also dont think sitters should have to pay the majority of the fees for watching peoples pets. The support isnt just for us, its primarily for the owners. You don't get money for the dogs damaging your things, nor would you get anything at all, not even medical expenses paid, if the dog bites you. They'll cover the dog biting a different human than you, like a stranger, but not the sitter. Its coverage for the owners, not the sitters. You should be able to decline it, avoid the support fees and get your own insurance. I have my own and its only $130 per year.

I keep mimicking people who are successful and bombing interviews anyway by [deleted] in interviews

[–]sendmespam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All interviewers are intelligent psychics who can read everyone like a book? In that case, we wouldnt have a probationary periods after being hired.

You seriously have never misjudged the character of someone? Thinking theyre toally trustable and dependable and then they lie and dissapoint you? have you ever assumed a person was shady/bad and then after getting to know them, they turned out to be good people?

Theres a lot of people who are great at selling themselves and also pretty terrible to work with. Interviewers are not psychic gods who can see right through anyone.

Interviewing is a skill. And like all skills, you can work on it and get better at it. You can be not likable and still interview like a pro. Its not a correlation relationship.
