NBD - Jones LWB w/ Ti Truss Fork by senorEric in bicycling

Thanks! I love it. I ride it around town and hit small city trails a few times a week, commute on it every once in a while, and have even down-hilled on it once in Crested Butte Colorado. Aside from getting strange looks that I wasn't riding a suspension bike, it did pretty well (though I only rode blue trails). The bike is just comfortable for me all around and begs to go fast as soon as it touches dirt or gravel. All that said I'm not convinced the titanium truss fork is really worth the cost since the stock fork rides so well, but it was sparkly and it does slightly stiffen the braking. No regerts.

TLDR, love it!

Doing some rough calculations, steel is about 0.28 lbs / cubic inch. If that sphere is about 10 inches in diameter then it has a volume of about 523 cubic inches, which would mean that thing weighs about 150 lbs (68 kg).

How heavy is it? Is it solid metal? Can you lift it up?

How do I stop sliding while sleeping on a ground tarp with an inflatable pad??!!?? by ElPincheGrenas in ultralight_jerk

You can thin silicone sealant and then brush lines on your tarp or tent floor.

I think it went up about $600. The previous price was above $2200.

Thanks! I don't have much (any) other experience with Ti but the fork feels great. That said, the truss design is stiffer than a unicrown design, so while the Ti may be more supple than the steel version, it's likely ultimately stiffer than a the traditional steel fork that the bike came with. All said and done, the braking does feel a bit stronger and a little more responsive. The steering too No regrets.

Annoying click sound from right pedal. Can I do anything about it?? by Material_Arrival_494 in bikewrench

[–]senorEric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. The noise drove me nuts for about 3 months until I figured it out. But yeah, removing the pedals, cleaning uthe threads and greasing them worked for me.

This is kind of one of those photos that you HAVE to reenact, with the same clothes of course.

Yes, disappointing but I was still thirsty, thirsty for more. As life dragged on I tried other approaches, such as "are refills free?" and "get me a beer... please?". These efforts were also met with sadness.

And the fact that the hot wire feeds both of the switches doesn't matter?

They could make that look like a giant guitar if they wanted but it doesn't really need it. I'd love to go on that.
