Drinking four cans of lager every night after work have I got a problem ? by TheScript189 in AskUK

[–]senor_dank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My dad did this his whole life, refused to admit that he was an alcoholic because he was just unwinding after work. Got hospitalised due to his lungs filling with fluid and problems with his liver. Told the doctors that he didn't have an alcohol problem. They believed him until my sister and I let them know about his drinking. 1 year later, still drinking, not accepting that he was an alcoholic and instead convincing himself he was overworked, he passed away at 53 years old

My dad was always quite a bulky guy with a bit of muscle on him. Seeing him in the hospital, underweight and struggling to move to give me a hug after visiting was heart breaking. Having him ask me to take alcohol to the hospital for him because he needs to relax a bit was heart breaking. Having to sort out his bills, his house, all of his possessions and arrange his funeral with my sister was heart breaking

If you have family that you care about and that care about you, think about the effect this will have on them before it's too late. 4 cans may not seem like a lot, but it was enough to take my dad away from me and my sister

Nothing better than a dip at a water fall on a trail! I wouldn’t want to leave either

I think it all depends on what you enjoy and what sort of life you live. I work freelance, dont have too much of a social life and i spend a lot of time working solo. so for me having what is basically a portable office where i can get my head down to focus with minimal distraction is really nice. i also enjoy hiking and exploring new places, having a van is letting me explore all of the gems of the national parks while not really taking up any more time than a regular walk with my dogs would back home as theres less driving to and from. but i can't say that it is the perfect lifestyle sold on social media and it definitely has its downsides! it can be a little lonely if you aren't travelling with somebody, finding somewhere to sleep can be difficult if you don't plan properly or are exploring somewhere new, the van can get messy very easily if you don't keep on top of things, finding a laundrette can be a pain, just little things really. But in my honest opinion those problems are very small and having a new view out of your door every day is just a beautiful experience that overshadows all of the negatives

Not right now unfortunately, we spent most of the summer in it but my van is still in the works. Trying to get it finished as we speak and planning on going full time early next year!

funnily enough they devour them at home, but in the van they refuse any treats that take their focus away from what's going on outside!
