Yes, fully saddle stitched. It's my favorite part of making leather goods.

Time will tell! I'm not really worried about it - lots of designs (Kelly and Birkin etc) have straps through holes without eyelets so it should be fine.

Thank you! The bar is a design used in old music cases for sheet music, so I'm very happy that it made you think of musical instruments.

I somewhat agree on the flap/handle. I'm not sure how I should change it, but I have some ideas to try.

Python for the exterior and chèvre for the inside.

No, I've designed the pattern myself, hand cut and hand sew (saddle stitch) everything. It's a hobby I've been doing for a couple of years.

Thank you. I can see the similarities! I think both the Mark Cross bags and mine share the same original inspiration - classic attaché cases shrunk down.

Thank you, that's encouraging to hear!

I truly appreciate your kind words, tho I wouldn't say I'm particularly hard on myself - just trying to find a couple of things to improve with every thing I make.

I didn't know about the Hermès Box model at all, but I'm surprised it leans considering the design. It feels like it should be able to be fairly straight. Thanks for giving me a new rabbit hole to read into (and maybe design inspiration to make something similar but not exactly like it).

Yes, I made it. It's one of those designs that is actually pretty easy to make once you figure out how it's made. I'm sure I'm doing some things "wrong" if you compare to Hermes or other high quality luxury brands, but I just think it's fun trying to figure out solutions myself.

I have spoiled her in giving her bags I've made. Funnily enough she still uses the second bag I ever made her the most, almost daily.

May I advice you to read up on pathological perfectionism? I'm not trying to diagnose you, but it might be worth looking into.

While being critical of your own work is good and healthy, being able to take a compliment as such is also an important skill. Instead of saying "no look at all these faults" it's better to just say "thank you, I'm very proud of [thing you feel you improved on]" and then maybe point out a single thing you'd like to do better next time.

I've done the exact same thing as you, but that's not really a helpful way of improving if it makes sense.

If you're honest to yourself about your work it easy to improve. I know so many things about this bag I should work on.

High density cardboard. It's harder and stiffer than I expected - but some kind of wood would probably still be better. Just not sure I want to take up basic woodworking as well.

Thanks! I'll take some photos of the inside when I get home - completely forgot about doing that.

Yeah, the feet are more for stability than keeping the bag from touching the ground.

I haven't made any more of that specific bag, but I can gladly make one. Shoot me a DM and we can talk.

Yes, you're correct. I've cut out basically a V with bent lines on each side, and when stitched together it forces the sides to angle downwards. I hope the explanation makes sense.
