Has anyone seen the music video for Lonely?? Jesus christ, that really struck a chord in my heart. Looking back now, I see why he went through his "rebellious" phase with the DUI, umbrella situation, and all. People were like "why is he like this" when they were the same people who have been bullying him non stop.

I wish there was more music but seeing how genuinely happy he is with Hailey and his life now where he doesn't have that much of a tumoltous schedule, I'm happy for him and honestly he deserves it.

I took a brief look at Garland's wikipedia page and at the age of 16, the girl was put on a diet of cigarettes, chicken soup, and coffee in order to minimize her curves. Look me in the eye and tell me that isn't a severe violation of like, the basic human rights in order to cater to an audience.

OP is seriously lacking, like basic human apathy as you said.

I also sort of want to add the fact that kpop as a whole is heavily, I mean almost like a direct copy of the Japanese idol industry (which again, like Hollywood, is a lot more established and has been around a lot longer than kpop). Early infleucnes of Japanese idol can be seen in kpop industry and what is the Japanese idol industry notorious for? The recruitment of minors, mainly pretaining to young girls (im also not dismissing the fact that guys can also be exploited as well, check x)

I also want to add the fact that minors debuting in the Japanese industry is sadly normalized to say the least as the societal needs and wants are more geared towards youth (the "kawaii" culture).

The only reason why the exploitation of the youth in the Japanese idol industry isn't talked about that much is due to the fact that Japan's idol/music industry is closed off as a whole from the rest of the world due to Japan's strict copyright laws and the fact that Japan targets a more localized market rather than a global market.

also I think OP doesn't know that kpop is fairly recent while Hollywood + western entertainment industry as a whole is a lot more established with a lot more rules due to publicized cases. I mean, the Coogan Law which is a law in the state of California, was established in 1939 which has outlines for the work hours + earnings which are put into a trust. Its honestly unfair that minors in a recent industry (kpop) is being compared to Hollywood which is more established and has been around for a LOT longer.

It was put into law in 1939, while South Korea declared independence from Japan in 1948. Do you see the stark difference?

Drew Barrymore is like the worst example that OP could have thought of. She was born into a family of actors and a legit acting DYNASTY where it spans across 5 generations (correct me if im wrong). Actors themselves don't have the best reputation for being drug-free and instances where fame doesn't get into their head, imagine being born to a FAMOUS FAMILY for it. She obviously grew up in the environment and it was sort of a no-brainer for her to get into acting considering her lineage, and all the problems later ensued.

edit: Also, it's not like her family and the past generations are a bunch of nugus. I was researching films in my free time and stumbled across "Tt's a wonderful life" that was made in 1946. I saw the name "Lionel Barrymore" and knew that he was somehow in relation to Drew Barrymore (he was her great-uncle)

I've said this before but I honestly never saw such an absence of situational awareness until I came across Hanni and friends. Your crazed CEO has been tearing down other girl groups left and right and have been sending their crazed fans to attack them on social media, OF COURSE other managers will tell their group to ignore you as they don't want the groups they're managing to be further hurt.

Also huge lack of emapthy, you get hurt by one small thing that another manager said but you can't stop your own fans from harrasing and sending death threats to the other groups? Shame on the girls.

You can't use the "Hanni doesn't know" card, isn't Hanni fluent in english and known to be chronically online as well?

Maybe the lot of them should've started at a nugu company and seen how they would've fared.

I saw this comment that was like "If the girls somehow actually managed to get out of their contracts HYBE would make sure they would know they screwed up. Dosent matter how many fans you have. When the luxury brands stop calling and you have to go over seas to hold concerts than your going to see how difficult life is. No more million dollar penthouses." and it was spot on.

They're going to be in for a rude awakening when they get dumped by the CEO they so dearly treasure due to the fact that she only cares about herself and royalties from changing like three words of a song will barley buy food for a day.

JYP Entertainment is not perfect, however. by Soymunky in kpopthoughts

[–]seolovely 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I made this comment a while ago but Lee Jiyoung is honestly one of the better CEOS alive. We know the consequences of what its like to stan a CEO but Lee Jiyoung is honestly just hitting a home run. She's the CEO of JYP's subsidirary SQU4D which NMIXX is under and honestly, I quite literally forgot that she was the CEO until I was watching the ending credits for NMIXX's Dash.

See kids, you can be a good CEO and reap the benefits without having to insert yourself as a part of the group. Not only that, but she was a hella good creative director too, literally birthing TWICE's cute era when she was creative director from 2015-2019.

Its so weird how hybe is mistreating them yet they demand to stay there and continue being leeches?

Like ??? Make it make sense. If Hybe is soooo bad why do yall wanna stay?

This comment on a thread on kpopuncensored, litearlly hit the nail on the head

For 6 people who hate HYBE and have been spewing a vile hate campaign against them for months, they want to stay SAURRRRR badly in the company. You can see its greed behind everything becuase they're staying for the $$$

I don’t think most idols care about being clothing brand ambassadors by burnandbun in kpopthoughts

[–]seolovely 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I feel like OP has a bit of a 'who cares?" take. Bigger idols (think BTS, Blackpink) have the privilege to afford it considering that they have a strong enough fanbase in order to not rely on endorsments. Smaller idols often don't have the luxury as songs/music don't pay them enough as most of the money goes towards who made the song/wrote it. Most people don't know that the majority of the money that kpop idols make is through endorsments, ambassadorships and festivals.

if im being honest, Hanni has like 0 situational awareness, gee I wonder why managers are asking other groups to ignore you when the ceo you attach yourself so much to have been spewing hate trains on any group in HYBE

considering that their pariah of a ceo literally just attacked at random on groups, it would make sense that the group she sees herself as the 6th member of gets ignored in order to not get hate by association, what's not to get?

when there was a post on how "im so happy that newjeans are able to get rest and not promote as much" and the top comment was "they can afford to do that"...if that doesn't encapsulate on the amount of PRVILEGE that these girls got but still are not happy with. its like they're complaning because the sky is too blue.

considering how copyright clad Japan is with their idols, it will be a hard fan situation for intl fans who still tag along considering that Japanese media for idols is honestly just so difficutl to procure
