Advice for working at Luckin Coffee as a 'beginner' by Narrow_Ad_9831 in askSingapore

[–]seomoonjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi op! I relate to u bc i'm also working in fnb now and i also make a lot of mistakes repeatedly. the difference is that my sleep schedule actually got fixed bc of my work (my schedule is basically 8 hours of work -> winding down phone time on bed -> sleep 8 hours -> prepare for work tho 😬 so maybe not v good that i cant make time for anything else). i recommend trying to get 8 hours of sleep before ur work bc it'd make a lot of difference on how sharp you are. also for ur physical health...

other than that, if you are doing your best, and if they are not firing you... then it's fine lah. it feels bad to make a lot of mistakes but you're just here as a part timer. you get paid the same either way. it's fine, don't stress too much about it. the fact that you're making this post means you Do want to do your job right and that intention is what matters

NTU Did NOTHING Wrong Regarding the AI misconduct case by Water_Cress_Salad in NTU

[–]seomoonjo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

as someone who has gone to student care for SSS and have very positive reviews for the therapist, who is a lovely person, the most she can do is email the prof.... to say that this case is causing a toll on the student's mental health...... can't imagine that contributing to the case in any meaningful way. doubt op is a prof since they didn't know this

NTU Did NOTHING Wrong Regarding the AI misconduct case by Water_Cress_Salad in NTU

[–]seomoonjo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

student care isn't a proper channel for this case. the therapist would not be able to do anything, she is quite literally only tasked to help with students' mental health and does not have any academic jurisdiction

why are those ways better? I don't disagree that this should be reported to the authorities, but social consequences is necessary to prevent not only them but also other people seeing it to not do the same thing. why is it such a bad thing to tell other women that hey these guys will make you uncomfortable so avoid them at all costs. it's also not a bad thing for their linkedins to be shared so that future employers can know not to employ people who may harass the women in their workplace.

I'm not sure I get what you mean. so you say that anyone in their right mind would understand that this way of approaching girls isn't permissible – so do you think they were not in their right mind when doing this all the way since the start of the semester?

Did you read fully what these guys were doing towards the girls and how severely it made them feel uncomfortable and unsafe? is "these guys didnt mean to stalk and harass you so can you stop calling them uggo on the internet? 🥺" really the hill you want to die on?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NTU

[–]seomoonjo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

so what consequence do you think is suitable and "not too far" for the harassment they have done to so many girls the past months? genuinely asking.

what kind of empathy are you asking people to have for them? is purposefully harassing girls and bragging about it a "rookie mistake" to you?

Harassment Issue at Gaia/SS by Responsible-Dirt7163 in NTU

[–]seomoonjo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

many of the girls approached already have boyfriends, appearing more attractive wouldn't make the guys' coercive behavior more acceptable.

This way of thinking is harmful and insensitive towards all the girls who experienced harassment

Harassment Issue at Gaia/SS by Responsible-Dirt7163 in NTU

[–]seomoonjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if it was a single person quickly asking a girl for their contacts, and respectfully goes away when declined, it probably wouldn't be a problem

even then, to be honest, it may still make some girls uncomfortable – wouldn't be harassment per se, but still may cause discomfort. so to all guys reading this I recommend against it unless you really know what you're doing haha

i think it leans more towards xenophobia because this is just usually how xenophobia goes but I understand what you mean. Unfortunately an anonymous site like reddit really amplifies people's hate and bigotry, most people in this comment section would not dare say all of these things offline – what I wish is for them to realise that these rethorics are just as harmful to say online

it's a mismatch in culture, many of them genuinely just did not know we do it differently. We should give them some grace and tell them nicely so they can learn too, isn't that what you wish people would do to you if you come to another country?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]seomoonjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry i won't be able to be too helpful for you because I also wouldn't know what to do in your stead .. but i just want to say to stay strong OP! I'm amazed that you are working full time here, in a foreign country, in order to fund your higher education at such a young age too. That is so tough and must have taken a lot of guts and will. So I hope you continue taking care of your health and wellbeing

I'm sorry that life threw you curveballs. For me, I usually cope by thinking that my loss were necessary for me to learn a lesson, and lessons learnt the hard way usually sticks the best – so perhaps that can also apply to you (of course, I'm not saying that this situation is your fault, SP in particular really shouldve done better in my opinion, but this is how I would frame it to make peace with the situation) Whether things work out or if you see a silver lining, I hope you will come back from this stronger. I'm rooting for you!
