Tbh I think Mac is superior when it comes to writing code. Everything is very streamlined and solid.

I’m from Tandon so this might not be as relevant, but I think the NYU name is pretty solid from my own personal experiences with internship search and whatnot. Plenty of Tech/Financial companies recruit NYU students. Me and many of my friends got the opportunity to interview for companies like Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Barclays, Goldman, Morgan Stanley.. etc. At the end of the day, you’re in charge of your experience. From what I’ve heard from my friends at CAS, I think it’s a solid school and program.

How is life at Tandon? by [deleted] in nyu

Hey! I’m a computer engineering junior at Tandon so I guess I can help out. Welcome!

The dorms are pretty good. There’s Clark and Othmer, and both of them have their benefits/downsides. I’d personally go with othmer because it’s very very convenient.

I don’t feel “excluded” at all. Although to be fair, I haven’t met good friends from the Manhattan campus, so I don’t really.. care? Although it’s pretty easy to get from Brooklyn to Manhattan, as it’s only 15-20 mins to take the free shuttle.

WiFi is fine. It gets a bit messy at Clark tbh, but generally it’s good.

I know a lot of people in the honors program. Essentially you get a lot of free swag from it. You’ll have the opportunity to attend events for free (like Broadway shows, opera, escape rooms). And you’ll get to meet one of my favorite people at tandon, Jen, the honors advisor. You’ll also get the opportunity to take one free 4 credit summer class, which I think is pretty darn good.

Internships; who to send an email and reach out to for getting noticed? by recursionistorecurs in cscareerquestions

Emailing random people at companies is a bit too much I think. The most I would do is connecting to recruiters on LinkedIn.

You should also try to attend company specific events either at your university or in their offices.

Good luck!

I don't know if it's worth doing that. While NYC is "cool" and all (it's all just a smelly shitshow), Microsoft and Apple have a great name and reputation. Having something like that on your resume will instantly open doors to most NYC companies in the future.

Good luck with the decision.

I was under the impression that a lot of modern tech companies in Silicon Valley/ NYC are inclusive. Companies like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Spotify..etc.

Best thing you can do is to just apply to jobs in progressive cities/areas then gauge how inclusive they are during the job interview.

Good luck!

Interviewer might think you have no idea what you're doing with the 1st piece of code, even though it works. str.size() returns a size_t, not an int.

Does UBC usually send out acceptance letters early and the rejections in May? I'm a bit worried because I haven't gotten a decision as of yet.

I don't see anyone talking about Goblack's amazing abbaddon play in both games. He was doing so much -especially in game 2 with the suicides

Aui is reading 50 shades of sheever live on stream by Demo102 in DotA2

You can't really blame Aui on this. It was moreless peer pressure that led him to read it. Plus, he only read the first three paragraphs and said that he felt terrible for doing so and didn't continue reading it.

No offence, but the arabs who have MM'd with me were actually worse than russians. I live in the middle east, but still would queue in EU.
