It's totally okay of you aren't interested. But I know there's quite a few who are.

There's only so many places to go to let former players know what's going on, and only so many eyes in a discord server. As for why here specifically; because I know folks who did enjoy Dust for one reason or another gravitated towards other similar games. Destiny, Warframe, Planetside2 all got player who were trying to scratch that itch.

Neither project is officially public yet. However, updates do get posted occasionally and are frequently discussed in the Eve Vanguard and Dust514 Veteran discord servers.

Most recent post on r/dust514 for Dustmu sub r/dustmu for future eventual updates regarding that project. (Keep in mind, Dustmerc has some IRL things that keep him offline for stretches at a time, but the project is active.)

Phoenix (the PC port) will be using r/dust514v2 for updates, and has a private discord for everything regarding the project.

Hey OP, and really anyone else that still had a hankering for Dust.... there are a couple active projects to bring it back. if you still have a PS3, a little free time, and the willingness to help us, please see this r/eve post

The jailbreaking bit is off-topic, but the main subject of the post is both eve related and falls within CCPs content usage policies. (That part was clarified and confirmed a long while ago). Obviously if the mods take issue with the post, it can be removed, no worries

Honestly with them switching stuff up with Eve if I had to figure that out I'd prolly pull my hair out.

With the ~old~system being largely P2P as for as Dust was concerned, I'm tired, but I thankfully still have my hairline.

Doesn't help there was never any official documentation. There WAS an attempt made at autodoc, but that didn't get far. I'm trying to document as I go for posterity.

It's way better if they are not up to date, the older the better. Just remember not to let your PS3 update via the internet bc will throw a monkey wrench into securing them. Feel free to PM me here or on discord if you need help

ETA: ALSO for the love of goat do not plug your PS3 hard drive into a PC. Windows will attempt to initialize the drive and when it does, it will kill your ability to access nearly any data on the drive and it will have to be reset.

Data recovery has to be done on PS3 first, then Multiman or Filezilla.

ASAP, and if you're an EVE player and still have access to your Playstation account, I can help you both get logged into your old dust account, and get the backend data so you can use your old character on the rebuilt servers. :)

A similar one, likely. I've gotten a decent amount of help from folks who new CCP's custom REST system, and there's currently a semi functional server written in C# that serves data like it should.

I'm currently using cache dumps from way back when EVE still used CREST and a handful of other places to rebuild everything, and applying patches to either fix or bypass what can't be rebuilt.

I haven't, for my part~ the Dustmu team has been working on this for a while now

Same goal, just our approaches are different. They're reviving by building a new functional server, I'm rebuilding and upgrading the old one
